The Donald Trump U.S. presidential election odds for 2024 feature him as the favorite at some of our best sports betting sites (outside the U.S.) prior to November's election.

The 2024 election campaign is going to hit another gear much earlier than anticipated.

Donald Trump has agreed to two debates with Joe Biden, with one at a typical date as the fall approaches on Sept. 10. However, Biden requested that the first one be held far earlier than usual on June 27, a date that's approaching fast. The president surely did that because he trails slightly in the polls and wants to redirect voters' focus.

Trump can identify with the latter feeling as he sits in a courtroom still amid the hush-money trial, and often away from the rowdy crowds that give him life. He'll now get another outlet, and perhaps our best sportsbooks are anticipating a boost while leaning more toward him as the favorite recently after Biden was gaining momentum.

To complement our 2024 U.S. presidential election odds, here is our look at the top Donald Trump presidential election odds for 2024 from our best sportsbooks (odds available only from Ontario sports betting sites).

Donald Trump presidential election odds 2024 analysis

Trump has rebounded at our best sports betting sites while regaining his position as the stronger favorite, though his lead still isn't nearly at the level as just prior to Super Tuesday.

That's when Biden was listed as long as +185 through BetMGM. He was briefly listed ahead of Trump at BetVictor later in the spring, which is still posting the shortest odds for the challenger at -111. Trump has now regained a more comfortable lead, but still not a dominant one like it was before.

The former president still needs to get scrappy to truly reassert himself, and the early debate will provide that opportunity. However, Trump remains handcuffed to some degree short term, as he needs to often be present in New York with the hush-money trial still chugging along.

But that hasn't stopped him from regaining some ground in the polls, albeit a slight advantage. A recent YouGov poll showed Trump holding a one-point lead, which is minimal, but still better than the three-point deficit he faced not long ago.

However, both candidates come with their warts. Age is the primary one for Biden, and legal issues are the problem following Trump. But there may be a broader and deeper challenge for both, as a YouGov poll showed that 48% of respondents hold negative feelings about a 2020 rematch.

Trump might also be feeling the impact of the negative headlines tied to his legal entanglements. His Stormy Daniels hush-money trial will still be going for a while. He's now officially the first former president to face criminal charges.

But Biden's unpopularity could still be an advantage for Trump no matter how much time he spends in a courtroom. The current president is still struggling in that regard. His approval rating bottomed out at 37.6% and has since rebounded slightly, but it still sits at a lowly 38.8%.

Donald Trump Republican presidential nominee odds analysis 2024

Trump didn't face a real challenge in the Republican field. His odds to become the nominee shortened dramatically just prior to Super Tuesday, going from -2500 to -5000 at bet365. He then officially secured the nomination and enough delegates days later.

Ron DeSantis was once thought to be Trump's top competition, but his campaign fizzled fast before the Florida governor dropped out just before the New Hampshire primary, endorsing Trump in the process. That endorsement contributed to Trump's Republican odds spiking even further.

Nikki Haley was repeatedly thumped too before finally ending her campaign the morning after Super Tuesday. However, she stopped short of endorsing Trump, instead saying she wishes him well, and that the former president now needs to "earn the votes in our party and beyond it who did not support him."

Trump did receive a critical endorsement from Mitch McConnell, the Senate minority leader and one of the most powerful Republicans. The two had once sparred, but now McConnell says he's eager to work with Trump again.

"I look forward to the opportunity of switching from playing defense against the terrible policies the Biden administration has pursued to a sustained offense geared toward making a real difference in improving the lives of the American people,” McConnell said in a statement.
