Kyle Larson, Denny Hamlin, and William Byron are the favorites by the NASCAR Cup Series championship odds heading into the All-Star race.

Heading into the NASCAR All-Star Race, three drivers are jockeying for the top spot across our best sports betting sites through the first 13 races. And it shouldn't surprise anyone following this season who they might be.

Kyle Larson, who entered this year as a co-favorite with William Byron, is the narrow favorite across most of our best sportsbooks two weeks after he secured the closest win in NASCAR history at Kansas Speedway. At least one book prefers Denny Hamlin, who joins Byron as the only drivers with three wins entering the All-Star race.

All three are among the favorites to win Sunday's NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway, which begins at 8 p.m. ET on FS1. Here's a look at where the top drivers stand in the latest 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Championship odds from the best sports betting apps.

Favorites to win NASCAR Cup Series Championship

Kyle Larson

Even after a disastrous showing at Darlington (P34), Larson still reigns supreme in the latest betting odds after clinching his second win of the year at Kansas Speedway - one that came 0.001 seconds away from heartbreak:

Embed content zuhBr4ibh2c image

That gave the preseason favorite his second win of the year, and he currently leads all drivers in points (486), laps led (648), and top-fives (six). Larson has often been the fastest qualifier, too, claiming three poles in 13 races with top-three Sunday finishes in two of them.

These are now the shortest odds of the season for the 2021 champion, who remains arguably the best driver in the field every time he hits the track. It's always risky betting the favorite in the playoff era, but nobody deserves these short odds more than the No. 5.

Denny Hamlin

While Larson has the shorter odds at most shops, Caesars has Hamlin as the outright favorite to win the first Cup Series championship of his career. And it's hard to argue with the logic.

The 43-year-old scored his third consecutive top-five finish at Darlington, and his preseason win in the Clash at the Coliseum foreshadowed his three wins in the first 13 races - tied for the most by any driver entering the All-Star break.

There's a reason Hamlin is the favorite to win this weekend's exhibition race, and his three wins to this point have helped fuel his aggressive racing style on the track. It's hard to compete with the combination of car, crew, and confidence for the No. 11.

William Byron

Byron is getting the longest odds of the top three drivers, but it's hard not to consider him a co-favorite in this field with three checkered flags to his name through 12 weeks.

Perhaps the most impressive thing about the 26-year-old's start is his versatility and consistency. He's already won on a short track (Martinsville), a superspeedway (Daytona), and even a road course (Circuit of the Americas), and his eight top-10 finishes are tied for the most in the field - more than Larson (six) or Hamlin (six).

Byron made the Championship 4 in 2023 and was one of two drivers to lead at least 1,000 laps across the entire season (Larson was the other). It's hard to imagine that he won't make another deep run in this year's playoffs, and it feels like these odds could look like a relative bargain in hindsight.

Ty Gibbs

If you've been following our NASCAR analysis all season, you know how we feel about Gibbs, whom we've been spotlighting ever since his odds were 28/1 way back in February. And he sure made us look good last week.

Last year's Rookie of the Year nearly secured his first-ever win, leading 34 laps and battling for a second-place finish - the best of his young career. That gave him his seventh top-10 of the season, tied for third, and his 235 laps led are fifth-most in the field.

The 21-year-old was catching 20/1 odds last week, but those might be gone for good after he flirted with victory once again. With the way he's qualified this year and how well he performed down the stretch last season, I'd highly recommend jumping on these odds for the Joe Gibbs Racing prodigy before it's too late.

NASCAR Cup Series Championship odds over time

May 16: As we've said for a while now, don't expect too much change each week across our best live betting sites unless a driver just won a race. We've seen that bump recently with Chase Elliott, Tyler Reddick, and even Kyle Larson, who went from one of the favorites to the consensus top choice after Kansas.

Naturally, the biggest riser this week was Brad Keselowski, who snapped a 110-race winless streak that spanned three years with his resilient win at Darlington Raceway. That likely punches his ticket to the playoffs and forced books with the best sportsbook promos to bump him into the top 10 in championship odds.

It was also the first win for Ford, which had gone 0-for-12 entering last weekend. Keselowski still has longer odds than fellow Ford drivers Martin Truex Jr. and Ryan Blaney, two previous champions with the shortest odds of any winless drivers in 2024.

How to bet on the NASCAR Cup Series Championship

While there is no dominant driver in the NASCAR field as there once was, preseason favorites Kyle Larson and William Byron are maintaining their spot near the top and are among the favorites in just about every race. So is Hamlin, who has logged three wins already to join the previous two as the only drivers with multiple wins thus far.

Betting on any of those drivers isn't a bad way to invest in the season, with all three looking likely to be among the final cars in the playoff field. If you're looking for a way to fade those leaders, you might find better value on a race-to-race basis - like when Daniel Suarez won in Atlanta with odds as high as 45/1.

That said, NASCAR's playoff format adds volatility to the overall field, so we recommend picking off relative values like Ryan Blaney, Joey Logano, and Ty Gibbs, who all have the makeup and team to compete, and they offer a larger payoff than the top three.
