NBA Championship Odds & Favorites 2024: Celtics Stay Favorites as Nuggets Claw Back
The Boston Celtics have pulled further ahead of the field as the consensus favorites by the 2024 NBA championship odds from our best NBA betting sites with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets in a toss-up right behind.
The Boston Celtics showed they could bleed once in the opening round, losing Game 2 to the Miami Heat. But that loss seemed to anger the consensus favorites as the Celtics rattled off three straight wins to knock off their first opponent.
The Cleveland Cavaliers had better hope that history doesn't repeat itself because they topped the Celts in Game 2 of their second-round series on Thursday, squaring the series at 1-1. The loss did little to impact Boston's spot atop the NBA championship oddsboard.
The defending champion Denver Nuggets dropped their opening two home games against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round but clawed back to get a huge road win in Game 3.

Celtics (-110 via Caesars)
The Celtics walloped the Cavaliers to the tune of a 120-95 victory in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals only to drop Game 2 by a 118-94 count on Thursday. That sends home-court advantage to Cleveland, and you can see our Celtics vs. Cavaliers player props and odds for Game 3 here.
Timberwolves (+400 via DraftKings)
The Timberwolves vaulted to the second-shortest odds to win it all after jumping out to a 2-0 lead against the Nuggets in their second-round series. Losing Game 3 117-90 at home did little to lengthen those odds.
A lot of the T-Wolves' success has come from Anthony Edwards's play, who is considered a contender by the NBA Finals MVP odds. Edwards scored 43 points in the series opener and was tied for a team-high with 27 points in Game 2. However, he was held to a far more modest 19 points in Game 3.
Nuggets (+700 via BetMGM)
A 27-point road victory in Game 3 shows that bettors should have been flocking to bet the Nuggets' inflated NBA championship odds when they were down 0-2 to the T-Wolves.
Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray matched each other with a team-high 24 points in Game 3, and three other players joined in double-figure scoring. If this was Denver finding its way around Minnesota's stifling defense, the Nuggets are still very much alive in the NBA Finals race.
