Rafael Nadal’s record of 22 Grand Slam titles would be matched by Novak Djokovic with a victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Australian Open Men's Final on Sunday. Check out below for our Djokovic vs. Tsitsipas tennis picks.

No men’s tennis player has been more dominant at the Australian Open in their career than Novak Djokovic, who seeks his 10th title (no other player has more than six). Djokovic was banned from last year’s tournament because of his vaccination status, but he won three consecutive Australian Opens from 2019-21, and he is 9-0 in his career in this Slam’s finals.

Tsitsipas advanced to his first-ever Australian Open final after beating Karen Khachanov in four sets on Friday. It was the Greek’s first win in an Australian Open semifinal after going 0-3 in three of the previous four years. Tsitsipas’s fourth semifinal appearance is the fourth-most among active men. He now seeks his first Grand Slam title in his second-ever major final appearance (he lost in five sets in the 2021 French Open finals to Djokovic).

The No. 1 world ranking is on the line in this match, as the winner of this match would bump Carlos Alcaraz out of the top spot on Monday.

Here are our best tennis bets for Novak Djokovic vs. Stefanos Tsitsipas in the 2023 Australian Open final (odds via DraftKings Sportsbook; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Novak Djokovic vs. Stefanos Tsitsipas pick

Djokovic to beat Tsitsipas 3 sets to 1 (+270 via Caesars) ⭐⭐⭐

Want an idea of how dominant Djokovic has been in his career at the Australian Open? His active 27-match winning streak dating back to 2019 is second on the all-time consecutive wins list (three behind Roy Emerson), but his 25-match winning streak from 2011-14 is fourth on that list. And with this being Djokovic’s 33rd major finals appearance (21-11 career record) to Tsitsipas’s second, it is not a question of if Djokovic will win, but how quickly?

Djokovic has as high as -120 odds at most sportsbooks to win in straight sets. Still, we are giving Tsitsipas more credit than that, considering he has won at least one set off Djokovic in six of their 12 head-to-head meetings (including pushing Djokovic to five sets in both Grand Slam matchups). Djokovic admittedly had tired legs in his last match against Tommy Paul and commented on how punishing and physical a match it was. Djokovic looked unsettled early but overcame 24 unforced errors (compared to just 12 winners) to take the first set, 7-5.

Still, Paul was the second-lowest ranked player Djokovic had ever faced in a major semifinal, and Paul only had four tour-level wins against top-five players. Conversely, Tsitsipas is a much more seasoned player and is rolling with 10 consecutive victories in 2023 (he lost just six sets in that span). Tsitsipas is 6-3 in his last nine matches against top 20 players at the Australian Open and is 11-7 against top 20 players in his career at majors.

Tsitsipas had 26 straight service holds before being broken in the first set by Khachanov, and he allowed just four looks at break-point in total. His serve and consistent ground game will push Djokovic as no opponent has to this point in the tournament, and he should be able to win one set as a result.
