Circuit of the Americas will host its third NASCAR Cup Series race this weekend. From the big-name favorites to the road course ringers, we have plenty of intel on this week’s NASCAR odds to go along with our EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix picks.

For the first time this season, the NASCAR Cup Series will race on a road course this weekend. Circuit of the Americas will entertain the top stock-car drivers in the world on Sunday afternoon in the third annual EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix.

Though COTA is more known for its Formula 1 racing, last year’s NASCAR race was certainly a thriller. Ross Chastain emerged victorious after an incredible last-lap battle with A.J. Allmendinger. That win was Chastain’s first in the Cup Series and served as the springboard for a remarkable year that ended with a runner-up finish in the championship standings.

Looking ahead to this weekend’s race, there will be several drivers who hope to replicate what Chastain did here a year ago. In addition to the usual road racing suspects, bettors will also want to keep tabs on the handful of “road course ringers” who will be a part of the field.

Here are our best bets and 2023 EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix picks for Sunday’s action at Circuit of the Americas (odds via our top-rated sportsbooks; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Ross Chastain wasn’t the only driver to score his first career NASCAR Cup Series win on a road course last year. Tyler Reddick followed suit at Road America and would go on to secure a second victory at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course. Last year was the first with the new Next Gen Car, and no driver appeared to master the roads better than Reddick.

Though Reddick has always been a decent road racer, last year’s breakout really helped his stats at this type of track. Since the start of the 2020 season, he is tied for the third-best average finish (12.9) across all road courses among current full-time drivers. At COTA specifically, Reddick was fifth a year ago and ninth in NASCAR’s debut race at the Austin-based track.

The major concern with betting on Reddick to win is the fact that this will be his first road race behind the wheel of the No. 45 Toyota for 23XI Racing. On the bright side, this team has been trending up following a poor start to the year. Reddick was third at Phoenix two weeks ago and overcame a stomach bug to finish fifth at Atlanta last weekend.

Make sure to target Caesars when betting on Reddick to win, as the 10-1 price offers a greater return than any other major sportsbook offers.

A.J. Allmendinger (+1200 via DraftKings)

Anytime NASCAR visits a road course, A.J. Allmendinger must be considered a threat to win. This will be especially true throughout the 2023 season given that he is now back in a full-time Cup Series ride piloting the No. 16 Chevrolet for Kaulig Racing. Despite running only a part-time schedule a year ago, Allmendinger ran all of the road races and was competitive in doing so.

COTA was certainly no exception. Allmendinger was in contention for the win in the final turns until being bumped off track by Chastain. The resulting finish was hardly indicative of his overall performance. "The Dinger" also wound up fifth in the first-ever Cup Series race held here two years back.

Since the start of the 2020 season, Allmendinger has raced in 11 of a possible 15 Cup Series road races. In those starts, he has accumulated a stat line that includes one outright win, four top-fives, and seven top-10s. Allmendinger makes for a juicy 12-1 shot to win Sunday’s EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix.

Alex Bowman (+1800 via DraftKings)

Although he is not known for being a superb road racer, Alex Bowman has more than held his own in this discipline over the years. One need not look any further than last year’s race at COTA for proof. Bowman was the leader when the white flag waved and would go on to finish runner-up to Chastain. The year prior, he finished eighth.

Since the start of the 2020 season, Bowman has accumulated one top-five and six top-10s in 14 starts at road courses. His 13.7 average finish over that span ranks seventh among current full-time Cup Series drivers.

So, why is Bowman often overlooked on road courses? Well, when two of your Hendrick Motorsports teammates are named Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson, it’s easy for consistent results to get lost in the shuffle due to a lack of outright race wins. That said, the No. 48 Chevrolet makes for an interesting pick to win this weekend at 18-1 odds.

EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix NASCAR power rankings

10. Jordan Taylor (+4000 via DraftKings)

Of the handful of “road course ringers” taking part in the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix, Jordan Taylor will presumably be the name to watch. Quality of equipment will be of no concern for Taylor, as he will pilot the No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports Camaro in place of the injured Chase Elliott. Despite having never raced in NASCAR previously, Taylor has experience at COTA and a solid open-wheel resume that includes a pair of IMSA SportsCar Championships.

9. Chris Buescher (+3000 via DraftKings)

With finishes of 13th and 21st in the two previous NASCAR Cup Series races held at COTA, Chris Buescher’s success here has been modest at best. That said, he has quietly emerged as one of the series’ top road racers. In 15 road course starts spanning the last three seasons, Buescher’s 11.3 average finish ranks second only to Elliott. He has three top-fives and seven top-10s over that span.

8. Austin Cindric (+1600 via BetMGM)

During his time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Austin Cindric largely dominated road courses. Though he has yet to win a race in this discipline at the Cup level, he does own a pair of top-fives and five top-10s in nine starts over the last three years. Cindric led several laps in a spot start at COTA for Team Penske two years ago before his day was undone by mechanical issues. Last year, he finished eighth.

7. Joey Logano (+2500 via DraftKings)

Fresh off of his win last week at Atlanta, Joey Logano will look to carry that momentum with him to Circuit of the Americas. In NASCAR’s debut race at this track two years ago, he scored a third-place finish. He showed speed in qualifying last year and went off sixth on the starting grid but failed to finish. As for his body of work on road courses as a whole, Logano has accumulated five top-fives and eight top-10s in 15 total starts spanning the last three seasons.

6. Alex Bowman (+1800 via DraftKings)

Alex Bowman’s consistency as a road racer in recent years is impossible for bettors to ignore. At COTA specifically, he has performed as well as anyone. Finishes of second and eighth place him behind only the two drivers to win outright here in terms of average results. Bowman also has the third-best average driver rating (99.8) in the two previous races held here. Needless to say, it wasn’t an accident that he was leading when the white flag flew last year.

5. Kyle Larson (+650 via DraftKings)

Over the last two years, Kyle Larson has racked up four outright victories on road courses. None of those have come at COTA, where he was runner-up in 2021 and faded to 29th a year ago. He is, however, tied for fourth in average driver rating (97.5) for those two starts. Though he has been among the best in the sport at road racing since taking over the No. 5 car, it’s tough to find value in betting on Larson this week at the price he's commanding as the favorite.

4. Kyle Busch (+800 via DraftKings)

As the consensus second choice in the NASCAR betting odds, Kyle Busch has a couple of things going for him. First is the fact that he is a solid road racer, with five top-five finishes in 15 starts over the last three seasons. The other interesting factor is that he will be driving the same No. 8 car that Tyler Reddick piloted to two road course wins last year. That said, there isn’t much meat on the bone for Busch this week when it comes to betting value.

3. A.J. Allmendinger (+1200 via DraftKings)

Even though he has been running only a part-time schedule in the Cup Series of late, A.J. Allmendinger has consistently been a threat at the road courses. From his outright win at Indianapolis in 2021 to his last-lap battle with Ross Chastain at COTA a year ago, the proof is in the pudding when it comes to Allmendinger’s road racing prowess. He is worth a look to win outright on Sunday and will likely also carry betting value in other race prop markets.

2. Tyler Reddick (+1000 via Caesars)

Tyler Reddick came home fifth at COTA last year and is also one of only four drivers to finish inside the top 10 in both Cup Series races held here previously. The fact that this will be his first road race driving for Toyota and 23XI Racing is slightly concerning, but his talent figures to ultimately shine through. His average driver rating of 93.3 in all road races since the start of 2020 ranks second among the drivers who will be in Sunday’s field.

1. Ross Chastain (+800 via DraftKings)

The defending EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix winner fittingly checks in at No. 1 in our power rankings. Along with his groundbreaking Cup Series win here a year ago, Ross Chastain also finished fourth at COTA in ‘21. He owns the best average driver rating (125.9) and has led more laps (35) than any other driver in the two races here. Given how well Trackhouse Racing ran as an organization at all road courses last year, Chastain will no doubt be a factor on Sunday.
