Guts Sportsbook Review

Guts Sports brings a decent reputation as a clean and all-encompassing sports betting destination, with an astounding 50,000 betting markets.

Our Guts Sportsbook online review will examine whether or not that reputation is warranted. We will cover its locations, menu of sports betting opportunities, the site’s overall wagering experience, live betting options, online casino, history, reputation, customer service, and focus on responsible gambling. Follow along.

Guts Sportsbook Locations

Guts Sportsbook has gained market access in nearly 100 countries worldwide, including Asia, Africa, and Europe, and has a half-dozen supported languages. The betting site has an impressive global reach, which it brings to its comprehensive sports betting platform.

Despite having a global reach, we were happy to see in our Guts review that the company has been able to tailor its sports betting offerings to Canadian bettors. That means a healthy dose of NHL, NFL, CFL, NBA, and MLB.

Sports Leagues to Bet On

The menu of sports betting options that Guts Sportsbook offers is one of the true strengths of the site. Guts offers the Canadian betting public around 30 different sports to wager on. Our review revealed over 40,000 soccer bets and nearly 5,000 hockey wagering opportunities.

All that Canadian bettors want are there, from hockey, both NHL and international leagues to football, basketball, baseball, combat sports, and a host of more obscure, international offerings such as motorsports and alpine skiing.

Esports opportunities are also plentiful on the Guts Sportsbook site.

As far as the odds, our Guts Sports review was slightly disappointed. There are better options for Canadian bettors looking for value concerning betting lines.

NFL Betting

NFL betting opportunities are a must in the Canadian market, and Guts Sportsbook does a respectable job offering Canadian bettors a host of wagering options. Guts smartly focuses on teams close to the Canadian border, including the New York Giants and Jets, the Buffalo Bills, the Detroit Lions, Patriots, Packers, Vikings, and the Seahawks. Of course, Guts also focuses on the global obsession Dallas Cowboys, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Las Vegas Raiders.

NBA Betting

Guts Sportsbook does a respectable job covering the NBA and wisely focuses on the Toronto Raptors, former NBA Champ, and undoubtedly Canada’s Team. Like the NFL, teams close to the Canadian border will also get some betting attention, as will the Lakers and Celtics, which are global brands.

College Football

Guts Sportsbook offers a host of betting opportunities on college pigskin for most Division 1 action. Moneyline, spread, and total plays bets are becoming a more significant part of Guts’ Saturday offerings.

College Basketball

College hoops betting isn’t quite as popular as it is in U.S. markets, but Guts Sportsbook does a decent job of keeping Canadian bettors up-to-speed with college basketball betting. Guts’ coverage isn’t as robust as some of their competition, particularly in the Ontario market, but is still respectable, especially around March Madness.

NHL Betting

A strong focus on NHL betting is essential to thriving in the Canadian market. Guts Sportsbook, again, does a respectable but not elite job of delivering betting action on the league. Bet types include moneyline, puckline, total plays, team and player props, and live betting opportunities throughout the NHL season and into the playoffs.

The Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Winnipeg Jets, Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators, and Montreal Canadiens will get the most wagering action, closely followed by U.S. border towns and some of the more iconic American teams.

MLB Betting

Guts Sportsbook offers a host of betting opportunities on MLB, emphasizing Canada’s summer sporting obsession, the Toronto Blue Jays. Moneyline, runline, totals, player and team props, and Live Betting are a snapshot of Guts’ MLB bet types.

Other Sports Leagues

Guts Sportsbook has assembled a nice list of “Other Sports” on which their clientele can bet. Soccer is huge on the page, perhaps at the expense of a little more Canada-centric content. UFC/MMA, tennis, NASCAR/motorsports, PGA, Cricket, pro international basketball, hockey, and even volleyball are available.

Online Betting Experience

Name recognition is something that Guts Sportsbook lacks in the Canadian market. Our Gust Sports review was hoping that their online betting experience would be that one thing that would set them apart in the increasingly competitive market.

Unfortunately, the “experience” is where Guts falls a little flat. From the ho-hum graphics when you access the site, to the curiously slow load times we experienced, to the fees we encountered with their banking options, our Guts Sports reviewers came away thinking that there is certainly room for improvement with the Guts brand.

The site is easy to navigate, clean, and the bet slips are simple to populate, but the issues previously discussed knock the Guts Sportsbook a peg or two in our books.

Website Experience

Usability with the Guts Sportsbook is where the betting provider shines. We have already mentioned the simplistic, average-looking interface, but that simplicity and lack of flash work for the site when relating to its usability factor. Everything from sports or casino betting options to bet types to promotions and customer support is clearly laid out on the website and is easy to follow. Navigation certainly isn’t an issue, according to our Guts Sportsbook review.

The “vanilla” look of the overall website has us down on the product just a tad. So, while the feel of the Guts Sportsbook checks many boxes, the look leaves something to be desired.

Mobile Betting and Betting App

Guts Sportsbook misses the mark when it comes to a dedicated app. There is a hole in the Guts Sportsbook offering that no iOS or Android version is available at the App Store or Google Play. Accessibility is vital today, and Guts fails in that regard.

Obtaining Guts Sportsbook from your favorite internet browser is not ideal, but our Guts Sportsbook review found it adequate. Load times can vary and be frustratingly slow, and depending on your browser is an increasingly archaic way for sportsbooks to do business.

That said, when everything is up-and-running and you are in a secure location where your internet is spot-on, the Guts sportsbook platform is smooth and easy to navigate.

Live Betting

Live betting is a must to keep up in the competitive world of online sportsbooks. Guts Sports does an excellent job in displaying the live betting options available on their site and delivering the necessary goods to make it an all-around good experience.

The “Live” tab at the top of the page offers live betting opportunities seemingly 24 hours per day. The platform is complete with match statistics infographics that are essential to any live betting suite.

Our Guts Sportsbook review enjoyed our live betting test but caution that their offerings don’t necessarily set them apart from the rash of competition they face in the market.

One hole in the live betting opportunities with Guts Sports is the lack of live streaming options. It would be nice to see the brand catch up to others in the market and offer some live streaming to their client base.

Casino, Poker, & Other Gaming Options

Guts has paired an excellent online casino with their sportsbook to make for a decent all-around online gambling experience. The site boasts some of the best online casino software developers in the business, including Net Entertainment, Microgaming, BetSoft, Sheriff, IGT, Play N Go, and NextGen to make up their online casino offerings.

Our Guts Casino review identified over 500 casino gaming options, from an impressive slots menu to table games, Roulette, Baccarat, and online poker. Guts’ live casino is also good but nothing special compared to the competition they face in the Canadian market.

Guts Sportsbook History

Guts has been around since 2013, honing its sports betting and online casino craft in a host of global markets. Licensed in Malta and the U.K. and owned by MT SecureTrade Ltd., Guts has consistently raised its profile globally and gained access to the rapidly growing Canadian market.

In 2019, Guts refocused on their Guts.com brand, opting to rid themselves of distractions caused by lesser brands under the Malta-based Zecure Gaming Limited umbrella.

The company's goal is to offer something “fresh and exciting” to online gamblers worldwide while providing a slew of betting opportunities on the biggest sporting events around the globe and a world-class online casino. They do just an OK job at that compared to some other reviews we have done.

Customer Ratings & Reputation

While holding a decent reputation worldwide, there were some common, recurring criticisms of the Guts brand. Our Guts casino review scoured customer complaints and found out for ourselves that many of the issues with the brand were warranted. Despite clearing regulatory hurdles in a host of global jurisdictions, Guts falls short of some expectations compared to other sites.

Safety isn’t an issue. Licenses in Malta and the U.K. give Guts credibility that your information is safe. Certification from the #1 global gaming and testing authority eCOGRA furthers its reputation as a safe and secure site.

Neither is the selection of sports, online casino, and bet types. Our Guts review found an impressive selection of each, although there have been some complaints about the subsections that lie beneath all three topics.

But underwhelming odds, an underwhelming interface, and slow load times for the site on your favorite internet browser take some luster off the brand.

It all leads us to an “OK” rating for Guts Casino.

Customer Service

Guts Sports has a decent stable of customer service options available. Again, they are far from an elite customer service site. There is 24/7 customer service with Guts, but the list of possibilities falls behind other huge competing brands.

Guts Sportsbook Contact

  • 24/7 Live Chat
  • Detailed FAQ
  • Email: support-ca@guts.com

Guts Sportsbook Legal Betting

Guts Sports and Casino is licensed and regulated in the Canadian market thanks to their passing all of the hurdles cleared in Malta and the U.K.

Responsible Gambling

Guts has conformed to a responsible gambling focus of regulators worldwide as a global provider. The company offers plenty of advice about the problems associated with online gaming. It has game limits, deposit limits, game pause, self-exclusion, cool-off periods, and some handy links to back its focus on the issues that can arise with legal online casino wagering.

Here is a list of some recommended partners for more help.

  • BeGambleAware.org: offers free, confidential help and support to anyone worried about gambling for themselves or others.
  • Gambling Therapy: a global service provided by Gordon Moody offering free emotional support and advice to anyone affected by gambling.
  • ResponsibleGambling.org: The Responsible Gambling Council (RGC) is a respected, independent non-profit organization. They have been a leader in preventing problem gambling in Canada and globally for over 35 years.

Guts Sportsbook Review Conclusion

Guts has created and maintained a decent overall sports and online casino betting site. But it is far from elite and has some work to do to get on par with the competition they face in global markets.

The sheer volume of wagering opportunities is good. It is easy to use, and directions are clearly laid out. But an underwhelming interface, marginal odds, unflattering wait times for some deposit options, and the lack of all-encompassing customer support drag the brand down, as does the fact that there is no dedicated, downloadable app.

We conclude that Guts Sports is a serviceable online betting brand worth a try. But when compared to other heavyweight names in the online gambling space in Canada, Guts Sports have a little work to do before becoming a rousing “Thumbs Up.”
