I like the Tigers to sweep again but I'll give the Cardinals one game. I know the Cardinals have already pulled off two upsets but their luck runs out in this series. Tigers won all 3 games of interleague play.

#2I will give the Cardinals the benefit of 2 games, but the Tigers will win this series. I always pick 6 in these things anyway.Comment -
#3I agree with looker here. Tigers in 6. Carpenter should at a win, and maybe Suppan will get one too.Comment -

#6At this time of this writing, I am totally hammered. However, I am absolutely shocked at the Cardinals. I voted Cards in 7.
To be real honest, on October 1st, I didn't think the Cardinals were the best team in their own division. They have beaten one team in a 5 game series that couldn't hit. Now, they've beaten a team in a 7 game series that didn't have Pedro Martinez and Orlando Hernandez and barely escaped that.
But, I think I read Pags say, "I believe in karma". Me too, Pags, me too. Cards in 7. This team blows but there is something to be said about a team that is playing knowing they are monster underdogs in every series they play. Sorry for the rambling. I'm going to bed now.

#10I must say that alot of people are under-estimating the Cardinals team and ability to play great baseball against the Tigers. Sure they had some bad streaks, but critics have failed to mention the loss of crucial players through injury on the Cards team during the regular season. This has a more than obvious effect on their all around performance. Most of the end of the season they were missing more than a few of those crucial players for important games. Pujols, Isringhausen, Mulder, Eckstein, Rolen, Carpenter, Edmonds..........all on the DL for quite some time. Thats almost their whole team! It goes without saying that with their regular lineup finally back together in the postseason , made a huge difference. They showed that they can play baseball and win baseball games/series when it counts. Not only did they play baseball, but they beat two teams as the underdogs. And one of those teams just happened to be tied with the NYY having the best record for the 2k6 season. Luck, I think not. 3rd consecutive post season appearance.......2nd World Series appearance in 3 years.....Bad team, I think not. Im not excluding the Mets or Padres, they are both great ball clubs, but the real winner always comes on top. All I'm saying is that at this point, anything can happen. The Cardinals were on top during the Astros matchup and look what happened there. Same as the World Series with the Boston Red Sox. I would have to say a sweep for either Tigers or Cards is a pretty bold statement, especially for a baseball fan. The Tigers are a big challenge for the Cards and what look to be the better team, but as I said before, the winner always comes out on top. This isn't any old game......this is the freakin World Series! So lets see what happens and good luck to all the Tiger/Card fans out there. By the way, if you're basing your choices this series on nothing but facts, why the hell of all teams in baseball are the Tigers and Cardinals playing in the World Series..........was that honestly anyones prediction at the beginning of the year.........think about it!Last edited by dizzydude; 10-20-06, 02:42 AM.Comment -
#11How many championships have the Cardinals won in the last 3 years? 0, so that dont make them a good team either.
Maybe the Cardinals were some peoples prediction to make the World Series in April, but Im pretty sure none had the Tigers making it.Comment -
#12How many championships have the Tigers won in the past 2 decades? Sorry, but you made me do it. U completely missed the point.........I'm not on anybody's side, the Tigers are more than a good team and deserve their spot, i'm just sayin the cards do too. All the Cards get is the shitty end of the stick when they've earned much more than that. I'm not speaking of members of this website, i'm talking about TV critics and Radio announcers. All I've heard this post season is that the Padres and Mets were going to win every game. And even when the Cards would win.......it would be shocking or lucky or unbelievable.B.S., the Cards earned their spot and should be credited as well as acknowledged for their every move, thats all i'm tryin to say. I admit that it was crazy for the Cardinals to pull themselves together at the end, but shouldn't the Tigers be looked at the same way?Last edited by dizzydude; 10-20-06, 04:09 AM.Comment -
#13I can't vote cause i think the series is going to game 7. And if that is the case it would be too hard for me to decide.Comment -
#14Anything can happen with the 2-3-2 format. I think StL will split in Detroit, win 2/3 at home and wrap it up in game six back at Detroit.Comment -
#15Tigers may well win, but appear to be overpriced to me, just as the mets were...Can't see much value at over 2-1...
Believing it will go at least 6, will place modest bet on Cards for series and look at hedge possibilities towards series end. Worked great for me in NLCS, obviously not so good in ALCS
Best of luck to all!Comment -
#16Hey guys,
Im really happy the Cards beat NY...
I think their will be some good value in St Louis and as Nosu said I will also place a small bet on them for the series...
But most of all Im just planning on sitting back and watching some good October baseball...
BTW, I would hope for that line posted on the title on this thread but I think its off...Last edited by Bulldog; 10-20-06, 11:07 AM.Comment -

#18I've faded the Cards for awhile and did good in the regular season but got burned in the playoffs. They've turned me into a believer. I think they got a shot and +191 ain't bad. (Now down to +185 @ pinny). Basically, this series won't be a cake walk for the Tigers. I say the Cards in 7. BTW, good points made by dizzydude.Comment -
#19Tigers in 6. Carpenter and Suppan will hold serve at Busch making it 2-2. The Tigers will then take Game 5 and win it at home in 6....hopefully!Comment
