Huge baseball series: Indians/White Sox

The Indians are on fire at the moment. If they're not careful they're going to end up winning the division.

I live 45 minutes away from cleveland and lived there for a few years and the biggest problem with their sports teams is they always make a run and then collapse. I would love to see them make the playoffs and win the division but I am not holding my breath.

But their run has been all through August and during September so far. It's running out of time for them to collapse.

It would be great to see them sweep the White Sox to make the last few days of the season even more exciting.

Most of Cleveland's players don't know what it is like to fail or make the playoffs or anything like that. They are fearless right now. With Ozzie Guillen constantly crapping on his own team's efforts, they might be out of gas. The White Sox fans I know have had negative energy about the team for a couple of months so you can imagine what it might be like in Chicago and even in the stands. When was the last time anyone talked about Buerhle or Garland for Cy Young? Is anyone in that lineup even hitting .300? Does Carl Everett believe in dinosaurs yet??

Seriously, if the Indians get in I think they are the team to beat because of their "no fear" mentality. Call me crazy. It seems that in recent years the teams that are hottest have gone on to win. Being a wild card doesn't hurt either (Sox last year, Marlins in '03, Angels in '02).

And by the way: a big "BOO!" to ESPN. No coverage of CHI/CLE on either Tuesday or Wednesday (they are excused because of MNF). Instead, according to the site, we will be treated with PHI at ATL followed by TEX at ANA (no, I won't call them LA). If you're a baseball fan, the CHI/CLE series is what you want to watch.
