    TCU to Big East Conference?
The New York Post is reporting that the Big East Conference is targeting TCU as a candidate to join the conference.

I thought TCU was in Texas and a member of the Mountain West Conference. Talk about a travel nightmare....TCU is 1700 miles from UConn and 1300 miles from South Florida. Just doesn't make any sense.

The logical choice would be the Big 12 especially after losing Nebraska and Colorado as members.

Better for UConn -- UConn plays well at night in the RAIN @ Home!

Again, it's all about TV contracts. TCU wouldn't bring anything to the big 12, as they already have the Dallas market. On the other hand, I'm sure the Big East would love to have a big market in Texas. Makes perfect sense.

Why would they bother... the mountain west is just as legitimate in football AND Boise is coming.

At this point the big east is just a token..... Unless you run the table there it doesn't matter for a national championship. You do the same in the Mountain West you'll go to a BCS game.

                  It's all about $$

More money for them if they're in a BCS conference. Better TV contracts, more exposure, and guaranteed big pay outs from the BCS bowls regardless if they're in one or not. TCU would jump on this opportunity in a second.

Makes a lot of sense. Besides TCU to San Diego is 1182 miles, TCU to BYU is 1200 miles........ The travel will be just as painful. TCU would add a Dallas market and a good football school for the Big East, and the Big East will help TCU in basketball.
