New ownership wants an up-tempo offense, while malone wanted the team to rely on defense and its interior advantages. They just clashed on ideas.

#37It was a combination of both. Indian owner has never played ball before. Doesn't really know much about it, but wants to implement things like playing 4 on 5, which is completely retarded. Malone was always at odds with him, and really pissed him off when he said publically that he didn't want the team to sign Josh Smith.
If I was a legit coach in the NBA, I wouldn't take this job no matter how much you paid me. Imagine working for Jerry Jones if Jerry Jones was overly fond of running the wishbone and wanted to sign Terrell Owens right now.Comment -
#38If that's your reasoning teams would be changing coaches every 10 games.Comment -
#39Well what do you expect when you have an Owner who believes in the skillset of a one Josh Smith....You know..many people complained about the Maloofs and how they chose to run the team...but I think this new Indian fella will give them a run for their money. The firing is clearly a personal issue run amuck...This team had something cookin earlier in the year when Cousins was healthy and even after his injury and subsequent loosing streak...they never rolled over...they play hard for each other and the coach...I wonder if the same will be said for this owner when its all said and done.......Comment -
#40Very strange
I don't get itComment -
#41Such a bs firing, Corbin is awful!Comment -
#43guess the bums will need to turn it around somehow..Comment -
#44Easy answer... and I can't believe no one mentioned it.
They lost to the Pistons. He got fired.Comment -
#45Seem early for a firingComment -

#47Word is if Chris Mullin wants to make the move from consultant to head coach, the job is his.Comment -
#48Really harsh firing, team had a 9-6 record with DeMarcus Cousins which is amazing since they are in the West.Comment -

#52Must be an analytics thing. The owner is big on that.Comment -

#54Malone got a raw deal everybody knows that. But heres the real reasons why he was canned:
Basically every direction the ownership wanted to go in Malone didnt approve & wanted to go a different direction. He was creating resistance & they couldn't get on the same page. Malone did things his way & he was winning. If Malone continued to win using his ways then ownership would have had a hard time justifying firing him later in the season. Cousins goes down & predictably the Kings drop a handful of games. This opened UP the door for ownership to fire him & call the reason for the firing "disappointment with wins & losses"
Enter Tyrone Corbin. Now it doesnt matter if he wins or loses the Kings can & will can him when their ultimate plan is ready to be put in place....GEORGE KARL!!!
The Kings want George Karl as their future coach but they wouldn't have been able to do so if Malone continued to win using his system. This was their chance to get him out & they acted on it. That is the real reason for the Malone firing.Comment -
#55So do we get to see the old cherry pick with Corbin. Jerry Jones franchise here it seems.Comment -

#61Not really all that confusing given the incompetence and general dysfunction of the entire franchise.
Idiot owners, idiot players ... no coach can or will succeed there. Toxic environment. They just keep burning through coaches because they don't want to identify the real problems.Comment -

#63What a sad franchise the Kings are.Comment -

#65Franchise would have been better off letting Seattle ownership take over. At least they might have had some competent management.Comment -
#66I think the Kings want to move, but it's hard to move a winning team so they fire the coach in hopes of the team playing bad. So far the plan is working.Comment -
#67What happened to this team??
They were good 1st 12 games or soComment -
#683 wins with new coach, Corbin not the answer.Comment -
#69Kings were 11-13 when Malone was fired
