#2558Oakland's SP Chris Bassitt had an ERA of 1.08 and a WHIP of 0.90 in 16.2 innings over his last three games.Comment -
#2559I rostered him in all my DFS games at SS last night.
Made me some nice coin.
Right now you can’t fade Whit at 2B (or OF) and Tatis at SS in dailies, you just can’t.
You find a way to budget those two in your lineups but right now Whit and Tatis in DFS is straight up cash money.Comment -

#2562Some bad blood brewing between Oakland and Houston which led to a benches clearing brawl today. Interesting that it was the A's were hit by a pitch 5 times in the series while the Stros weren't hit by one pitch. You can bet your ass the A's will have payback on their mind the next time these two teams face each other.Comment -

The New York Yankees will make a decision about Aroldis Chapman’s timeline to return to action after a throwing session on Tuesday, per ESPN’s Marly Rivera. Chapman has yet to make an appearance this season. He tested positive for COVID-19 back on July 11th after showing mild symptoms. Chapman has been working his way back to full strength and hopes to return to the back end of the Yanks bullpen shortly. Last season, Chapman put together another top-notch campaign with 37 saves in 60 games and a 2.21 ERA/2.28 FIP while striking out 13.4 batters per nine innings.
- Charlie Morton of the Tampa Bay Rays left his start today with right shoulder inflammation, per Juan Toribio of MLB.com. The Rays do not appear to be overly concerned about Morton in the long-term. The 36-year-old hasn’t gotten off to a great start with a 5.52 ERA across three starts, though it’s obviously s small sample, and a 4.06 FIP isn’t quite so pessimistic of his performance.
- The Washington Nationals aren’t any closer to coming to terms on an extension either for manager Dave Martinez or GM Mike Rizzo, per Jesse Dougherty of the Washington Post (Twitter links). Both are in the final year of their current deals. The Nationals have proven a fairly conservative organization and one that won’t budge due to public perception. For their parts, both Martinez and Rizzo appear to have great trust in the organization. Given that the Nats are coming off a World Series championship, it’s hard to imagine either man moving on. Rizzo is the longstanding architect of these Nats – one of the most sustainable contenders of the last decade – while Martinez is the culture of the club in its current iteration. He has both the respect and the admiration of his players, by all accounts. This is pure conjecture, but Nats ownership may be taking a principled stance by waiting on these extensions. They’ve routinely let star players play out the final seasons of their deals, and it shows some organizational continuity to do the same with Rizzo and Martinez.

#2572Looks like the Nats found their hitting shoes, they romped 16-4 over the Mets.
Soto went nuts going 3 for 4 with a dinger and 3 RBI.
As-Cab hit a pair of homers too.
Nats banged out 17 hits.
Speaking of hitting shoes there's 18 runs scored so far in the Rockies game and it's still in the seventh inning.
27 combined hits to boot.
Coors is a joke.
Blackmon is hitting like a man possesed all year, he's 3 for 4 and now hitting .476 and he's played every inning so far of every game.
He's got to be considered as an MVP.
There's 15 runs scored so far in the Red Sox game, and they're still batting.
I always make it a point to roster JD Martinez in dailies as he is the best hitter in the game vs. LHP
(Tatis is a beast too against LHP)
JD Martinez is 2 for 3 tonight so far with a home run, his first, about time.
Nice to see Xander find his stroke too.
There's 15 runs scored so far in the Oakland game.
Oakland is up 9-6, still playing.
Seattle has put up a 10 burger so far and that game is still going on.
10-2 there.
Phillies beat the Braves earlier 13-8
That's 102 runs is 6 games.
You're eating steak tomorrow if you had the over on the SALAMI.
And I just read a big article in Baseball Prospectus on how to ball is de-juiced this year.
Not tonight.Comment -

#2576Mike Trout is not human!
He hits a 2 run bomb in the fourth inning to cut Oakland's lead to 9-6.
Then after Ohtani tied the game at 9 and 9 with a two run blast in the sixth, Trout untied it with a solo shot in the eighth.
This game is off the chain. 10-9 Angels top of the ninth, A's gagged on a 9-4 lead.
Stay tuned.Comment -
#2577Trout is not human, still best in the game and never see him because he is out west.Comment -

Shame, but even though he's a NJ/Philly boy Anaheim is where he wants to be.
He could have hooked up with Bryce in his home town Philly if he wanted.
Yankees could have paid him too.
Can you imagine a lineup with a healthy Stanton, Judge, Trout, DJ, Sanchez, the kids Torres, Urshella, Ford, Voit?
Holy Mother of God that lineup with Trout in it would be one of the best ever.
And to think the Yanks could have drafted him......Comment -
#2579Injured Angels shortstop Andrelton Simmons is closing in on a return, manager Joe Maddon said Monday (via Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times). Simmons, who landed on the IL on July 28 with a left ankle sprain, has progressed to taking batting practice.
Ankle problems have slowed Simmons since last season, during which the 30-year-old totaled only 103 games played. Simmons’ well-known defensive wizardry continued then, but his offense dropped off a cliff compared to his respectable 2018-19 performance. Still, as Jeff Todd of MLBTR explained, Simmons entered this season as an especially interesting pending free agent. Thanks to the shortened campaign and the time he has already missed, though, Simmons doesn’t have much time to rebuild his stock before a potential trip to the open market.
Since Simmons went down in the first week of the season, the Angels have turned to David Fletcher at short. Fletcher has been highly productive so far, and the Angels surely want his bat in the lineup every day, but he’s versatile enough on the defensive side to move around the diamond. That will give Maddon the freedom to pencil the two in on a daily basis when Simmons is able to return.Comment -
