SF - San Francisco runs wild in win

    Source: ESPN.com

San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo completed six of his eight passes for 77 yards in a 37-20 win over the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 19. RB Raheem Mostert rushed 29 times for 220 yards and four touchdowns and caught two passes for six yards, and RB Tevin Coleman rushed six times for 21 yards. WR Deebo Samuel caught two passes for 46 yards and rushed twice for 43 yards, TE George Kittle caught his only target for 19 yards, and WR Emmanuel Sanders was held without a catch on one target. DE Joey Bosa and DL Arik Armstead both recorded a sack.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Garoppolo didn't need to do much as Raheem Mostert posted record numbers. The team clearly looks like the class of the NFC and should be a great opponent for Kansas City.

KC - KC's fantasy recap of AFC title game

    Source: ESPN.com

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes completed 23-for-35, passing for 294 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions Sunday, Jan. 19, against the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Championship Game. He also ran for 53 yards and a touchdown. RB Damien Williams rushed 17 times for 45 yards and a touchdown, adding five receptions for 44 yards. WR Tyreek Hill caught five of seven targets for 67 yards and two touchdowns, while WRs Sammy Watkins paced the team with seven catches on 10 looks, 114 yards and a touchdown. TE Travis Kelce was held to three catches for 30 yards on four targets. SS Tyrann Mathieu led all Chiefs with nine total tackles (six solo), chipping in a pass deflection.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

You knew the Titans were in trouble when they played a nearly flawless first half and still trailed at halftime. Kansas City was explosive and looks to be hitting on all cylinders as they head toward the Super Bowl.

PHI - TE Zach Ertz an extension candidate

    Source: 94WIP Radio - Eliot Shorr-Parks

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz will be a candidate for a contract extension this offseason.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ertz is under contract with the Eagles through the 2021 season. He has a cap hit of $12.4 million in 2020 and there's $13.5 million remaining in dead money. The Eagles might want to adjust that number and re-work the veteran tight ends deal. Ertz appeared in 15 games in 2019, catching 88 passes for 916 yards and six touchdowns. That was good to rank No.5 for fantasy tight ends in standard-scoring leagues.

NYG - TE Jason Witten an option for Giants?

    Source: ESPN - Chris Mortensen

Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent TE Jason Witten has not ruled out playing in 2020 and could join the New York Giants because of his connection with offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, according to sources.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It would be odd to see Witten in another uniform, but anything is possible. Witten would give the Giants veteran depth at the position behind starter Evan Engram.

NE - QB Tom Brady expected to test free agency waters

Source: CBSSports.com - Jason La Canfora

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady appears unlikely to agree to a new contract with the team before free agency begins in mid-March, according to multiple sources.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brady is set to be an unrestricted free agent when the new league year begins as he cannot be franchise-tagged by the Patriots. We've seen it before with guys like Joe Montana and Peyton Manning, so Brady may just be the next superstar quarterback to change teams late in his career. He is expected to take a methodical approach to determine where he will play next season, since this is the first time in his career that he will be eligible for free agency.

NFL - Gabriel Davis enters draft

    Source: ESPN.com

Central Florida WR Gabriel Davis announced that he forgo his final year of eligibility and enter the 2020 NFL Draft.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Davis is a receiver who can get vertical with long strides and does a good job of tracking passes over his shoulder. He was a huge part of UCF's offense and will now make the leap to the pros -- likely as a mid-round pick. He caught 72 passes for 1,241 yards and 12 touchdowns in the 2019 season.

      Tuesday Update

TB - QB Philip Rivers an option for Tampa Bay?

Source: CBSSports.com - Jason La Canfora

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers is set to become a free agent at the end of the league year and recently moved from San Diego to Florida in order to be closer to his family in Alabama. The combination of the two is fueling 'a lot of buzz' that Rivers may be a potential target for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora.

      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We could see Rivers playing elsewhere in 2020. The long-time Chargers starter could be an option for the Buccaneers but they have to first decide whether or not they'll be moving on from Jameis Winston. The buzz around the league is that the Colts may also have interest in Rivers. Right now, nothing is definitive but we'll keep an eye on this for you.

SF - RB Tevin Coleman undergoes MRI

Source: NFL Network - MJ Acosta

San Francisco 49ers RB Tevin Coleman (shoulder) has undergone an MRI on his injured shoulder, but the team is waiting for the results, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.

      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Coleman got banged up against the Packers and that led Raheem Mostert to have a monster game in the NFC Championship. Shanahan said Coleman has a chance to play in Super Bowl LIV.

HOU - WR DeAndre Hopkins played with injury

Source: Houston Chronicle - John McClain

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins (rib) suffered a broken rib during the Divisional Round playoff game but continued to play in the game.

      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hopkins played 77-of-80 snaps against the Chiefs in the Divisional Round, finishing with nine catches for 118 yards. He's a freak athlete and certainly showed his toughness in that contest.

GB - TE Marcedes Lewis wants to keep playing

Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - Tom Silverstein

Green Bay Packers impending free-agent TE Marcedes Lewis said he wants to continue his playing career and hopes to re-sign with the Packers this offseason because he felt comfortable with his role in head coach Matt LaFleur's offense.

      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lewis played 500 snaps for the Packers in 2019, catching just 15 passes for 156 yards and one touchdown. He's no longer the player he used to be but the Packers may consider him on another one-year deal to have veteran depth at the position.

Bigger takeaway here could be odds on Brady to Chargers. Was +600 last week but now don't see odds anywhere.

                    Wednesday Update

NE - WR Julian Edelman has surgery

                    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (shoulder) had a minor shoulder surgery last week, but he's expected to be ready for the offseason program.

                    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This shoulder injury really bothered Edelman down the stretch even though he was able to play in all 16 games in 2019. Fantasy GMs will lock Edelman down as a WR2 in PPR leagues in 2020. We'll be interested to see what quarterback is throwing him passes next season.

TB - WR Chris Godwin out of Pro Bowl

Source: The Athletic - Greg Auman

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (hamstring) will be unable to participate in the Pro Bowl due to a lingering hamstring injury. He'll be replaced by Detroit Lions WR Kenny Golladay.

                    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Godwin is under contract through the 2020 season but the Buccaneers have made extending him a top priority this offseason. When healthy, Godwin is an incredibly dangerous weapon opposite of Mike Evans.

CLE - WR Jarvis Landry avoiding the knife

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns WR Jarvis Landry (hip) isn't expected to have surgery this offseason and will play in the Pro Bowl.

                    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Landry was bothered by the hip injury for most of the year. It's a good sign that he will avoid the knife and the rest in the offseason should help him feel 100 percent for the offseason program.

CLE - WR Odell Beckham has surgery

                    Source: ClevelandBrowns.com - Andrew Gribble

Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. (abdomen) underwent surgery to repair his core muscle Tuesday, Jan. 21, in Philadelphia.

                    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Beckham should be ready to rock by the time the offseason program begins. He dealt with the injury for multiple weeks during the season and that likely led to the poor numbers (for his standards) that Beckham posted in 2019.

MIN - RB Dalvin Cook will be ready for workouts

                          Source: NFL.com - Nick Shook

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (shoulder) indicated that he will be ready for the start of offseason workouts.

                          [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Vikings will continue using Cook as their battering ram on offense and centerpiece of what they do on that side of the ball. Cook is entering the final year of his contract and is a candidate for an extension this offseason.

NO - GM wants QB Drew Brees to return

                          Source: ESPN.com - Mike Triplett

New Orleans Saints impending free-agent QB Drew Brees is a player that the Saints want to keep as long as he wants to keep playing, according to general manager Mickey Loomis.

                          [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is going to be up to Brees. If he wants to keep playing, the Saints want to keep him around. Brees takes one year at a time and will spend this part of the offseason deciding what he wants to do.

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Jan. 22.

                          [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No worries here. Kelce is not going to miss the Super Bowl. He will have plenty of rest between now and the game in early February.

CIN - WR A.J. Green may return in 2020

Source: The Cincinnati Enquirer - Tyler Dragon

Cincinnati Bengals impending free-agent WR A.J. Green is a player the Bengals plan to have on their roster next season, according to director of player personnel Duke Tobin.

                          [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Green has previously stated that he wants to be in Cincinnati if the two sides can reach an agreement. The Bengals want to keep him around, so it seems reasonable to assume something will happen to do just that. The team could always use the franchise tag on Green if a new deal is not reached by the time free agency opens up.

CIN - Cincinnati undecided about QB Andy Dalton

                          Source: ESPN.com - Ben Baby

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton's future with the Bengals is uncertain at this time, according to director of player personnel Duke Tobin.

                          [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We just don't see Dalton remaining with the Bengals in 2020. The team would save $17.7 million in salary cap space if they trade or release Dalton. Expect the Bengals to select a quarterback with the No.1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft.

MIA - QB Ryan Fitzpatrick expected back

Source: The Miami Herald - Adam H. Beasley

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is expected to be on the roster next season, according to general manager Chris Grier.

                          [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That sounds about right. Fitzpatrick is on the books for $8 million in 2020 and he could serve as a bridge quarterback for the first-round QB (Tua Tagovailoa?) the Dolphins are likely to select this year.

Jackson made huge strides from year one to year two in 2019. We're excited to see what kind of leaps he can make in year three this upcoming season. The Ravens will be Super Bowl contenders with Jackson in 2020.

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (back, hip) is 'pretty much at full health,' according to GM Bob Quinn, who adds that the team is 'totally happy and comfortable' with Stafford as their starting quarterback in 2020.

                          [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Stafford is good to go as their franchise quarterback for 2020. He is signed through the 2022 season and the only concern about Stafford is his health status. There is a chance the Lions select a quarterback at some point in the 2020 NFL draft to develop behind Stafford.

University of Dayton TE Adam Trautman is 'drawing rave reviews from scouts and poised for a big week' at the Senior Bowl, according to Pro Football Network's Tony Pauline, who adds that several teams already grade Trautman as the top tight end from the senior class and have stamped him with a second-round draft grade.

Trautman is one of the players to watch at the Senior Bowl. Fantasy GMs need to get familiar with his name. Trautman can make plays with his size/athleticism combination and could develop into a fine pro weapon.

                          Source: Pro Football Network

Southern Methodist WR James Proche reportedly had scouts from the New England Patriots 'gushing' over him during Senior Bowl practice Tuesday, Jan. 21, according to Pro Football Network's Tony Pauline.

Proche is a sure-handed slot receiver...so it makes sense the Patriots would be raving about him. We could see him as a mid-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft.

                          Source: Pro Football Network

Impending free-agent TE Hunter Henry is believed to be a candidate for the transition tag if he and the Los Angeles Chargers can't reach a long-term agreement before the start of free agency, according to sources via Pro Football Network's Tony Pauline.

                          [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The transition tag is going to be roughly worth about $9.2 million in 2020. Teams have the same right of first refusal as with franchise tags but do not receive any draft choice compensation for declining to match an offer sheet.

Minnesota Vikings assistant head coach/offensive adviser Gary Kubiak was promoted to offensive coordinator Thursday, Jan. 23.

                              [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Vikings needed to do something since Kevin Stefanski took off to be the head coach of the Browns. This move isn't going to change much on the Vikings offense. They'll still use RB Dalvin Cook and the rushing attack to set up play-action passing with QB Kirk Cousins.

                              Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Mike Florio

New York Giants QB Eli Manning is retiring, but he won't be eligible to be placed on the reserve/retired list due to his expiring contract this offseason.

                              [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's unlikely, but this means Manning technically would be eligible to sign and play for the Giants or any other team in 2020, free of restriction and/or having to go through waivers. Keep this in mind if some team needs QB help down the 2020 stretch.

'I'm looking forward to sitting down with Odell face to face,' Stefanski said. 'I haven't had the chance to do that yet and I get the chance to do that (Thursday). And at that point, that's when I can start laying out my expectations for Odell and all of our players.'

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr is tiring of the quarterback rumors surrounding the team -- the latest resulting from a photo taken of New England Patriots QB Tom Brady, a pending free agent, and Raiders owner Mark Davis talking at Jan. 18 UFC fight in Las Vegas. 'C'mon man, when's it going to end?' Carr asked.

                              [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Everyone is wondering where Brady is going to play in 2020. It would actually make a lot of sense if the Raiders made a run at Brady when he hits the open market. Carr is going to have to get used to the rumor mill, and it already seems like his time as the Raiders starter could be done in the near future. Only time will tell.

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees isn't rushing his decision on whether he'll return for another season. I wanted to give it at least a few weeks, months, postseason, just to take a deep breath and decompress a little bit and get some time with the family and then just reassess,' Brees said Wednesday, Jan. 22, during an interview at the Pro Bowl.

                              [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brees may not quite be what he used to be but by no means is he done from a physical or abilities standpoint. He'll have to make a decision before the start of free agency in early March. This quarterback market is about to get crazy in the NFL.

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green, a pending free agent, could receive the franchise tag from the Bengals this offseason. 'The franchise tag is not the best thing,' Green said in a TV interview. 'But like I said, I'm not turning down 18 million dollars. It just happens. When you run a business, you have to make difficult decisions. But I feel like when you put that on me, then that's what you're showing me, you only want me for one year. And I always play with a chip on my shoulder.'

The Bengals could use the tag on Green just to buy more time to get a new long-term contract done. If tagged, the two sides would have until mid-July to work something out. We'll see if a contract can be agreed upon before the tag would need to be placed on the veteran receiver.

Raheem Mostert should get ample opportunity to reprise the show he put on in the NFC title game and Matt Breida might be called upon. Jeff Wilson should also be active for the game and could play ahead of Breida if Breida has any ball security issues.

MIA - WR Albert Wilson may be asked to rework deal

Miami Dolphins WR Albert Wilson likely will be asked to restructure his contract this offseason if he wants to remain with the team. The Dolphins would save $9.5 million in salary cap space if they release Wilson.

                                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wilson has had trouble staying healthy since the team signed him. With Allen Hurns, Preston Williams, and DeVante Parker under contract for multiple years, Wilson might be seen as superfluous.

GB - QB Aaron Rodgers on to Year 2

                                  Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers had a 'really, really good ' first year in head coach Matt LaFleur's offense, general manager Brian Gutekunst said Friday, Jan. 24, and the GM is looking forward to the encore in 2020. I'm really excited to see what he can do in Year Two,' Gutekunst said. 'I know Matt talks a lot about what Matt Ryan did in Year Two, the comparatives there. I'm really excited to see where him and the offense can go.'

                                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rodgers had a terrible year for fantasy and didn't come close to living up to his top five quarterback ADP. He'll fall in drafts this year, but should still be drafted as a starter. If he produces like he did last year, he won't be a fantasy starter in 2020.

DAL - VP says QB Dak Prescott staying

Source: USA TODAY Sports - Jori Epstein

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott, a pending free agent, will be re-signed and remain the team's quarterback, Cowboys vice president Will McClay said Thursday, Jan. 23. 'We expect Dak to be our quarterback,' McClay said. 'If the owner/GM says we're going to get it done, he signs the checks. So we'll get that done.'

                                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Prescott's price surely has gone up since last year if only because the salary cap went up. The Cowboys are likely to sign him and Amari Cooper to long term deals and let cornerback Byron Jones walk in free agency.

CLE - RB Kareem Hunt had pot in car

Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Nate Ulrich

Cleveland Browns RB Kareem Hunt's car was found to contain marijuana following a traffic stop Tuesday, Jan. 21, in which Hunt was issued a speeding citation in Ohio.

                                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hunt wasn't charged with drug possession, but that might not be material to the league if they want to assess a suspension to Hunt. He is already in the league program because of a previous personal conduct suspension and it's possible he might miss a game or more in 2020 because of this incident.

Green Bay Packers TE Jace Sternberger impressed general manager Brian Gutekunst with his progress after he returned from the Reserve/Injured list late in the season. 'He can be one of those, as he develops, who can play from a lot of different places and be a matchup problem,' Gutekunst said Friday, Jan. 24.

                                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sternberger has great speed and ability to rip the seam as a receiving tight end. He should be on 2020 fantasy sleep lists with Aaron Rodgers settling into Matt LaFleur's offense.

GB - GM: TE Jimmy Graham still wants to play

                                  Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers TE Jimmy Graham wants to play in 2020, general manager Brian Gutekunst said Friday, Jan. 24.

                                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gutekunst didn't say whether he would be playing with the Packers if he comes back, but he has been a massive bust as a free agent signing and the team should be pushing to get 2019 third round pick Jace Sternberger on the field (or maybe even 2017 UDFA converted wide receiver Robert Tonyan) over Graham. If they release him, they'll have $3.66M in dead cap but avoid paying a $7.45M salary.

Notre Dame WR Chase Claypool has 'pushed himself' into Round 2 of the 2020 NFL Draft with his performance at the Senior Bowl this week, according to Chase Goodbread of NFL.com.

Claypool's size, hands, and fluid movement made his week in Mobile. Some have speculated that he could be moved to tight end and become a bigger mismatch weapon.

Texas WR Collin Johnson stood out during drills at the Senior Bowl Tuesday, Jan. 22, because of his 'separation ability' and 'vertical speed' during drills at the Senior Bowl.

                                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnson had a down senior year, but his 6'6" 220 size and natural receiving skills will still make him draftable in a strong wide receiver class.

Oregon QB Justin Herbert has been 'the best quarterback' at the Senior Bowl, according to Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com, and Twentyman said Herbert has been able to 'make all the throws' during drills.

                                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Herbert has impressed this week according to most reports, which means he could be a trade up target at 3 (Detroit) or 4 (New York Giants). Miami, the Chargers, and Panthers are all possibly in the market for a franchise quarterback and they select 5th, 6th, and 7th.

                                  Source: RaidersWire - Marcus Mosher

Oakland Raiders RB Josh Jacobs led all running backs with 69 broken tackles in the 2019 season, according to Pro Football Focus.

                                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jacobs performed well above his actual fantasy point output in 2019. If the Raiders get him more involved in the passing game next year, he could take a step to everyweek fantasy RB1 status.

MIA - QB Josh Rosen still in Miami's plans?

                                  Source: Sun-Sentinel - Omar Kelly

Miami Dolphins QB Josh Rosen hasn't been written off, according to general manager Chris Grier, and Grier said he saw improvement in Rosen during practice throughout the year.

                                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Grier should be saying this whether they believe in Rosen or not. If they don't, there still could be a market for a third day pick in a trade of Rosen to another team that wants to develop him, so there's nothing to gain by saying the team has given up on Rosen.

The Patriots should get their answer about that time. The market for Brady would be strong if he chooses to move on for the first time in his career. We could see a team like the Chargers or Raiders making a strong move for the future Hall of Fame quarterback.

Whether he's flushed left or to the right, his vision always is down the field. I was always looking for the big play first and knew I could always react underneath if I needed, too. You have to have a certain confidence or air about you that you can make any throw, and it has been proven he can make any throw.'

It's always difficult throwing around GOAT comparisons for young players but Mahomes certainly fits the bill. Favre made unorthodox plays but was a great passer...just like Mahomes. We think Mahomes has a bit of John Elway to his games as well with a level of athleticism that Favre didn't have. How is that for comparisons?

NFL - Justin Herbert named Senior Bowl MVP

Oregon QB Justin Herbert was named the MVP of the Senior Bowl Saturday, Jan. 25.

Herbert had a strong week of practice in Mobile and he follows that up with an MVP performance in the game. While most believe LSU QB Joe Burrow will be the Bengals pick at No.1 overall, Herbert is in the mix. The Bengals coached him during the week and if he impressed behind the scenes then he could be the top player off the board in the 2020 NFL draft.

HOU - WR Will Fuller undergoes surgery

Houston Texans WR Will Fuller (groin) underwent sports hernia surgery, according to sources Saturday, Jan. 25. He's expected to make a full recovery.

Fuller has the speed to make plays with ease as a big-play target. However, he's always banged up with these soft tissue injuries. This groin injury slowed him down in 2019 and Fuller only appeared in 11 games last season. We'll see if he can get healthy and stay healthy for a full 16-game season in 2020...it would be the first time in his NFL career if he can do that.

SF - TE George Kittle hit grade milestone

San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle in 2019 received the highest-ever full-season grade given to a tight end by Pro Football Focus, and has been named the site's 2019 Dwight Stephenson Award winner as the best player regardless of position.

Nobody needs analytics to know that Kittle is damn good. It's an interesting mark that PFF graded him at and he is of course well deserving of the grade. Kittle will be a force the Chiefs have to contend with in the Super Bowl.

TB - Ex-GM: No tag for QB Jameis Winston

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston is coming off an up-and-down season in which he hit career highs in yards (5,109) and touchdowns (33) but also interceptions (30), including seven pick-sixes, and former Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik said it's time the Bucs and Winston part ways. 'I would be surprised if they pay him,' Dominik told PewterReport.com. 'Maybe they will. It's their decision, but I would be shocked if the Bucs franchised Winston -- or transitioned him. I think the decision they have is certainly difficult because there has been some production there, but I don't know how you could justify paying Jameis Winston more money this year than he made last year.'

Winston played on the fifth-year option in 2019 and had a tumultuous season. Bucs head coach Bruce Arians has to love Winston's ability to go downfield but the turnover problem is just too much. With so many quarterback options this offseason in free agency, trades and the draft it clouds any future Winston could have in Tampa. We'll get more information about how the team feels around the Scouting Combine in February.

NFL - Joe Burrow not picky on destination

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Michael David Smith

Former LSU QB and 2020 Draft prospect Joe Burrow says he'll gladly play for any team that drafts him. 'Whoever wants to pay me money to play the game of football, I'll play for 'em, it doesn't matter to me,' Burrow told Bloomberg News.

The Bengals have the No.1 overall pick and selecting the former Ohio Mr. Football makes a lot of sense. We can't say Burrow is a lock with Justin Herbert climbing up draft boards, but Cincinnati is a likely destination. The Bengals are unlikely to trade out of the No.1 pick according to reports.

The Miami Dolphins are looking at Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa (hip) with the fifth overall pick, according to the Miami Herald's Adam Beasley, who writes that 'most plugged in people' at the Senior Bowl believe Miami will target Tagovailoa, assuming his physical at the Combine goes well.

That's where the buzz has always been and nothing has changed. Tagovailoa will be their pick at No.5 overall and they might even move up to get him if they feel another team will leapfrog them to get the Alabama passer.

NFL - Van Jefferson the total package

                                                  Source: NFL.com - Bucky Brooks

Florida WR Van Jefferson was the 'most polished' receiver during Senior Bowl practices, according to Bucky Brooks of NFL.com, and Brooks believes Jefferson could 'become a rookie starter' for a team in need of a No. 2 receiver.

Jefferson certainly had a strong week of practice in Mobile. He's a slot receiver type who could be best suited as a team's No.3 receiver. Jefferson can run routes with the best of them but he is somewhat limited athletically and struggles to beat more physical corners at time.

NFL - Anthony Gordon a system QB?

                                                  Source: ESPN - Todd McShay

Washington State QB Anthony Gordon 'didn't wow anyone' with his performance during Senior Bowl practices, according to ESPN's Todd McShay, and McShay believes Gordon will need the right system to have 'any sort of success' in the NFL.

                                                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gordon played in Mike Leach's 'Air Raid' system for the Cougars just like Gardner Minshew did the year before him. He made a lot of quick throws like smoke routes or screen passes to inflate his numbers in college, but NFL scouts are familiar with scouting that type of player now with so many 'system' quarterbacks coming into the NFL. Some team should take a chance on him late as a developmental player.

Trautman could have worked his way into the end of the third round with his performance this week at the Senior Bowl. He's an athletic pass-catcher and someone who can get open against linebackers and safeties. He was one of the players with the most buzz down in Mobile this week.

NFL - Jordan Love boosts stock

Utah State QB Jordan Love has a chance to be the fourth quarterback selected and a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft following his performance during Senior Bowl practices, according to ESPN's Todd McShay.

Love was always going to be a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft. His performance in Mobile made him potentially a top-10 pick. We've heard the Colts and the Raiders have interest but both of those teams are out of the top 10 and may have to trade up to get him.

Updating a previous report, New Orleans Saints impending free-agent QB Drew Brees said he plans to 'give it a month or so' before determining if he will return to the team for the 2020 season or retire.

He had previously stated that he is not considering playing for any other teams. That means if it's the Saints or bust for Brees. He will make a decision soon enough for the team to go in a different direction if need be. Teddy Bridgewater is an unrestricted free agent in 2020 but loves the staff, his teammates and the city. He went 5-0 as the Saints starter when Brees was down in 2019 and could step in as the starter if Brees ends up retiring.

We can't imagine the market being too wild for McCarron. The Texans might want to keep him around as he knows the system and gives them veteran depth behind Deshaun Watson.

Fells could have a larger market than some think. However, the Texans have a good group of tight ends with guys still in place like Jordan Thomas and Jordan Akins. They might lose Fells but still be more than okay at tight end because of those two.

NFL - Lofty comparison for Harrison Bryant

Let's not get too carried away with the comparison game. Bryant is a receiving tight end through and through. He's lined up like a wide receiver or in the slot more than he is as an in-line tight end because Bryant isn't much of a blocker. Scouts should be interested in Bryant because of his upside but we're not going to put him on the Kittle level.

Sanders is the top back for the Eagles and should get a larger role in 2020. He spent part of his rookie season a little banged up, or splitting time in a RBBC. The Eagles should use a committee at the position but with Sanders as the clear lead runner and receiver out of the backfield this upcoming season.

Mims is not just a speedy player, he also has body control, concentration and ball-tracking ability that could make him a special player in the pros. Most consider Mims a second-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft and he did nothing at the Senior Bowl to hurt that draft grade.
