Browns | Case Keenum finds new home with Cleveland
Free-agent QB Case Keenum (Redskins) agreed to terms on a three-year contract worth $18 million - including $10 million guaranteed - with the Cleveland Browns on Monday, March 16.
Footballguys view: Keenum is short like Baker Mayfield and he's got plenty of starting experience. He'll be the primary backup to Mayfield and a good resource for the young quarterback to learn from.
    Link to story
    Case Keenum player page

Ravens | Gus Edwards receives tender
Baltimore Ravens exclusive rights free-agent RB Gus Edwards was tendered a contract Monday, March 16.
Footballguys view: Edwards was an ERFA so he didn't have much of a choice. He'll continue to work as a primary backup to Mark Ingram in 2020, and Edwards is a high-value handcuff for Fantasy GMs.
    Link to story
    Gus Edwards player page

Eagles | Corey Clement to be UFA
Philadelphia Eagles restricted free-agent RB Corey Clement will not be tendered an offer this offseason, which makes him an unrestricted free agent.
Footballguys view: Clement might get a bit of interest on the open market. When healthy, he can contribute as a runner and receiver out of the backfield.

Steelers | Vance McDonald reworks deal
Pittsburgh Steelers TE Vance McDonald has agreed to restructure his contract in order for the team to create some salary cap space, according to a source. The team converted McDonald's $5.5 million base salary to a signing bonus.
Footballguys view: McDonald had a poor season in 2019. We'll see if he can have a bounce-back year with QB Ben Roethlisberger returning healthy in 2020.

Seahawks | David Moore receives tender
Seattle Seahawks restricted free-agent WR David Moore received the original-round tender offer Monday, March 16, according to a source.

Rams | Todd Gurley on the move soon?
Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley's name has reportedly come up multiple times in trade talks, according to NFL Network's Michael Silver.
Footballguys view: Gurley's contract is going to give team's pause when considering him in a trade. He's got a $17.2 million cap hit in 2020 and there is still $12.6 million remaining in dead money. We'll see if somehow they can pull off this deal (if they want to). The Cardinals were able to move David Johnson's contract on Monday so there is hope if the Rams want to get rid of Gurley.

Bears | Chicago narrowing search for veteran QB
Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton and Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles are reportedly targets for the Chicago Bears, who appear to be focused on acquiring a veteran quarterback to compete with Mitchell Trubisky for the starting job.
Footballguys view: Apparently the Bears have moved on from pursuing Teddy Bridgewater. It wasn't that long ago when the Bears moved up in the draft for Trubisky and now they want to find a way to move on at the quarterback position. As we always say, things move pretty quickly around here.

Buccaneers | Tampa Bay pushing for Tom Brady
Free-agent QB Tom Brady (Patriots) is reportedly one of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' top priorities in free agency, and the team has made its intentions toward the quarterback 'loud and clear.'
Footballguys view: We're all waiting to see Brady sign a deal in free agency. The Buccaneers have been very clear about wanting Brady but they could also go for Teddy Bridgewater if they can't land their top target.

Jets | NYJ talking with Phillip Dorsett
Free-agent WR Phillip Dorsett (Patriots) has reportedly 'talked quite a bit' with the New York Jets, according to multiple sources.

Ravens | Baltimore sends Hayden Hurst to Atlanta
Baltimore Ravens TE Hayden Hurst and a 2020 fourth-round draft pick were traded to the Atlanta Falcons in exchange for a 2020 second-round pick and a 2020 fifth-round pick on Monday, March 16.
Footballguys view: Hurst was a first-round pick just a few years ago but he was overshadowed by Mark Andrews at the tight end position. The Ravens move on but it won't impact their offense that much.
    Link to story
    Hayden Hurst player page

Falcons | Atlanta acquires Hayden Hurst
Baltimore Ravens TE Hayden Hurst and a 2020 fourth-round draft pick were traded to the Atlanta Falcons in exchange for a 2020 second-round pick and a 2020 fifth-round pick.
Footballguys view: The Falcons lost Austin Hooper in free agency to the Browns, but they were unable and unwilling to pay his price tag. Instead, they get a player with some untapped potential like Hurst. He did next to nothing with the Ravens even though he was a first-round pick for them just a couple of years ago. Assuming the Hooper role for the Falcons, Hurst has TE1 potential for Fantasy GMs in 2020 if he stays healthy.
    Link to story
    Hayden Hurst player page

Browns | Austin Hooper contract update Mon Mar 16, 02:15 PM
Updating a previous report, free-agent TE Austin Hooper (Falcons) reportedly agreed to terms on a four-year contract worth $44 million - including $23 million guaranteed - with the Cleveland Browns on Monday, March 16.

Cowboys | Blake Jarwin inks huge deal to stay in Dallas
Free-agent TE Blake Jarwin (Cowboys) agreed to terms on a three-year contract worth up to $24.25 million to remain with the Dallas Cowboys on Monday, March 16. The deal includes $9.25 million guaranteed.
Footballguys view: Jarwin is taking over as the lead tight end for the Cowboys this year. He's got low-end TE1 potential in the Cowboys offense and has earned the trust of QB Dak Prescott.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins shipped to Arizona
Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson, a 2020 second-round pick and a 2021 fourth-round pick were traded to the Houston Texans in exchange for WR DeAndre Hopkins and a 2021 fourth-round draft pick on Monday, March 16.
Footballguys view: Just an awful deal for the Texans here. Hopkins is one of the greatest wide receivers in the league and the Texans don't have a first-round pick. Sure, they've got a couple of second-round picks now but the caliber of receiver available then -- even quality guys like Denzel Mims or Tee Higgins -- are not the level of Hopkins. Bill O'Brien as general manager of the Texans is not making a wise move here.

Going to be strange to see Brady in a Bucs uniform. Like Montana in a Chiefs jersey.

Exactly like when Montana rode off into the sunset in KC. The NFC South might be the most competitive division in football now that Brady will play for the Bucs.

                  Wednesday Update

Broncos | Denver likely to part with Joe Flacco
Denver Broncos QB Joe Flacco is expected to be released or traded by the end of the week, according to Mike Klis of 9News.
Footballguys view: If they get rid of Flacco it will free up $10 million in cap space. That's enough to sign an entire rookie class. They just signed Jeff Driskel to be Drew Lock's backup and do not need Flacco.
                  Link to story

Broncos | Denver reels in Jeff Driskel
Updating a previous report, free-agent QB Jeff Driskel (Lions) agreed to terms on a two-year undisclosed contract with the Denver Broncos on Tuesday, March 17.
Footballguys view: Driskel gives them veteran experience behind second-year starter Drew Lock. If all goes as planned, they won't need to have Driskel get on the field.
                  Link to story
                  Jeff Driskel player page

Panthers | Cam Newton a possibility for Washington?
Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton was given permission to seek a trade by the team earlier in the day on Tuesday, March 17, and ESPN's Josina Anderson is reporting that the Washington Redskins are a potential destination for him. However, talks did not rise to the level of 'definitive interest' and are more in a 'wait-and-see mode' at the moment.
Footballguys view: We could see that happening as Ron Rivera, former Panthers coach, is now the top man in Washington. They have been rather lukewarm on 2019 first-round pick Dwayne Haskins and could bring in Newton to be the starter.
                  Link to story

Patriots | Damiere Byrd headed to New England
Free-agent WR Damiere Byrd (Cardinals) agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the New England Patriots on Tuesday, March 17, according to a source. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.
                  Link to story

Buccaneers | Tom Brady expected to sign with Tampa Bay
New England Patriots impending free-agent QB Tom Brady is expected to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when the new league year opens Wednesday, March 18, 'barring anything unforeseen,' sources told Adam Schefter and Jeff Darlington of ESPN Tuesday, March 17.
Footballguys view: Brady gets to move on to a new team, and the Buccaneers get a big upgrade over last year's starter Jameis Winston. It's an interesting fit with Bruce Arians and his downfield passing attack, but we're certain they can make it work and work at a high level. Seeing Brady in a different uniform is going to be weird, and expect the team to add more weapons around him this offseason.

Falcons | Brian Hill receives tender
Atlanta Falcons RB Brian Hill received an original-round tender Tuesday, March 17.
Footballguys view: Hill was a fifth-round pick for the Falcons in the 2017 NFL draft. That means the team would get a fifth-round pick if some team signs him away. The tender is worth around $2 million for the 2020 season. Hill is a good all-purpose back who gives the team veteran depth.

49ers | Kendrick Bourne receives tender
San Francisco 49ers restricted free-agent WR Kendrick Bourne received a second-round contract tender Tuesday, March 17.

                  49ers | Matt Breida tendered
San Francisco 49ers restricted free-agent RB Matt Breida was tendered at a second-round level Tuesday, March 17, according to a source.
Footballguys view: Breida was an important part of the 49ers backfield in 2019 and he should remain as such in 2020. A second-round tender means a team would have to surrender a second-round pick to the 49ers if they sign Breida away. That tender is likely to keep interested parties away from the all-purpose back.
                  Link to story

Raiders | Jason Witten strikes deal with Las Vegas
Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent TE Jason Witten reached agreement on a one-year deal with the Las Vegas Raiders, according to a source Tuesday, March 17. Witten can earn up to $4.75 million in 2020.
Footballguys view: Witten kind of cramps the room in Vegas where they already have Darren Waller and Foster Moreau. He's there for veteran depth but should not do much from a fantasy perspective.
                  Link to story
                  Jason Witten player page

Colts | Philip Rivers has deal with Indy
Free-agent QB Philip Rivers (Chargers) has agreed to a one-year deal with the Indianapolis Colts, according to a source Tuesday, March 17. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
Footballguys view: This is the landing spot that most expected for Rivers. His best seasons in the pros came when Frank Reich was his quarterbacks coach with the Chargers. Now Reich is the head coach for the Colts and get his franchise quarterback to make a run in 2020. Jacoby Brissett now becomes a backup quarterback behind Rivers.

49ers | Jerick McKinnon restructures deal
San Francisco 49ers RB Jerick McKinnon agreed to a restructured contract Tuesday, March 17, and will return to the team for the 2020 season, according to a source.
Footballguys view: Even with a restructured deal, McKinnon is no lock for the final roster. He has not played a single down for the 49ers over the last two years after signing a lucrative deal in free agency. We'll see if he can impress enough in training camp to earn a roster spot.

Dolphins | Jordan Howard reaches deal with Miami
Philadelphia Eagles impending free-agent RB Jordan Howard is in agreement on a two-year deal worth more than $10 million with the Miami Dolphins, according to a source Tuesday, March 17.
Footballguys view: The Dolphins are the most RB-needy team in the league. Howard is a power back who could be the lead back for the team in 2020. We should see the team also take a look at running backs at some point in the 2020 NFL draft. Howard has a nose for the end zone and some flex appeal for Fantasy GMs even if the team adds another back.

Cowboys | Amari Cooper contract breakdown
Dallas Cowboys WR Amari Cooper's five-year, $100 million contract extension includes a signing bonus of $10 million with fully guaranteed salaries of $10 million in 2020 and $20 million in 2021. His 2022 salary of $20 million is guaranteed for injury, but there is a potential out following the 2022 season with only $6 million in dead money.

Rams | Blake Bortles has options
Los Angeles Rams impending free-agent QB Blake Bortles is weighing several options, according to a source Tuesday, March 17. One option reportedly is to return to the Rams.
Footballguys view: Bortles getting a ton of interest is a bit surprising. Maybe it's not a ton, but some teams might want him as a veteran backup behind a young starter. We think staying with the Rams might be the best thing for him. Stay tuned.

Vikings | Extension expected for Dalvin Cook
Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook has had some talks with the team regarding a contract extension as he enters the final year of his rookie contract. Those discussions are expected to get more serious later in the free agency period, according to sources Tuesday, March 17.
Footballguys view: Cook is the centerpiece of what the Vikings do on offense. He should be getting a new deal before the start of the regular season.

Packers | Allen Lazard receives tender

                  Jaguars | Keelan Cole tendered
Jacksonville Jaguars restricted free-agent WR Keelan Cole received a second-round tender Tuesday, March 17.
Footballguys view: That's an interesting tender for a No.4 wide receiver. Cole has been solid for the Jaguars since coming into the league a few years ago as an undrafted free agent out of Kentucky Wesleyan. He'll make around $3 million in 2020.

Panthers | Teddy Bridgewater finalizing deal with Carolina
Free-agent QB Teddy Bridgewater (Saints) is negotiating a three-year, $60 million contract with the Carolina Panthers, per a source. The deal is expected to be finalized when the league officially opens its new year Wednesday, March 18.
Footballguys view: New Panthers OC Joe Brady worked with Bridgewater when they were both with the Saints. Bridgewater is smart and accurate and should be able to make the most of the weapons around him.

I think Brees has one good year left maybe but you're right their loyalty to an aging Quarterback might end up costing them. I think Bridgewater will be successful in Carolina so not retaining him might hurt NO especially since they'll see him twice a year.

Gordon was suspended Dec. 16 for violating the NFL's policies on performance-enhancing substances and substances of abuse - his sixth NFL suspension since the 2013 season.

Baltimore Ravens TE Hayden Hurst was officially acquired by the Atlanta Falcons Wednesday, March 18, in exchange for a second-round draft choice and a fifth-round draft choice. The Falcons will also receive a fourth-round draft choice in the trade.
Footballguys view: The Falcons take a chance on the former first-round pick as their replacement for Austin Hooper who moved on in free agency to the Browns. Hurst has the talent but he needs to stay healthy and start playing up to that potential.

Footballguys view: Roberts is a speed guy who can stretch the field. It's interesting to note with Teddy Bridgewater (not known for his strong arm) at quarterback but we'll see if Roberts can actually make the 53-man roster.

Footballguys view: Mannion was with the team last year and finished the season starting one game with the playoff picture wrapped up. He's a bad backup but he's the Vikings guy for 2020.

Footballguys view: It shouldn't take Walker long to find a new home. He's a seasoned veteran who can at least provide veteran depth at the tight end position for any team interested.

Los Angeles Chargers QB Tyrod Taylor is in line to be the starting quarterback for the Chargers next season since the team is not expected to sign or acquire a veteran quarterback this offseason, according to sources.
Footballguys view: Taylor is a fine starter, and he is incredibly safe with the ball. The Chargers are going to run the ball and play great defense as a mantra for the 2020 season. Even with Taylor as the starter, the Chargers could still select a top quarterback in this draft to groom as the eventual starter.

Footballguys view: The Jaguars had to make a decision and they went with Minshew. He flashed last year as a rookie taking over for an injured Nick Foles. Now, he's the main man with no competition for the top spot. We'll see if the Jaguars are tempted to make a run at one of the top quarterbacks in this draft class with the No.9 overall pick.

Footballguys view: The Bears are looking for competition to push Mitchell Trubisky for the starting job. Foles has plenty of experience working under both Bears head coach Matt Nagy and Bears quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo. We'll see if Foles can actually win the starting job in training camp.

Footballguys view: Tagovailoa has been progressing well from the hip injury but was not able to work out for scouts at the Combine. This is an interesting offseason with no pre-draft visits happening due to the coronavirus. We're sure that teams interested in Tagovailoa did their due diligence when examining him at the Combine. Footballguys view: The word is that it will not take a premium pick to land the veteran receiver. Cooks could wind up in Tampa with Tom Brady or with other teams in need of field-stretching speed. Stay tuned.

Redskins | Logan Thomas agrees with Washington
Free-agent TE Logan Thomas (Lions) agreed to an undisclosed deal with the Washington Redskins Thursday, March 19.
Footballguys view: Washington will have a new-look tight end group with Vernon Davis and Jordan Reed gone. Thomas is a converted quarterback who has flashed just a little bit as a tight end in his various stops around the NFL. He'll work behind Jeremy Sprinkle and try to find a spot on the depth chart.

I don't see them being .500 even with the Saints and Bucs (with Brady) in their division.

Footballguys view: He could sign for a third stint with the Patriots to be a veteran backup. The Patriots may sign a veteran quarterback to be a starter in free agency (Cam Newton?), but they could also roll with second-year pro Jarrett Stidham as their starter. If the latter is the case, then they'd really need an experienced backup like Hoyer.

Free-agent TE Nick O'Leary (Jaguars) agreed to terms with the Las Vegas Raiders Saturday, March 21. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: The Raiders wanted to add tight end talent this offseason and they've made a couple of moves to do that. O'Leary will work for a spot on the depth chart behind starter Darren Waller. Jason Witten and Foster Moreau make up the rest of the tight end room.

Free-agent TE Nick Vannett (Steelers) agreed to terms on a two-year contract with the Denver Broncos Saturday, March 21, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Vannett has learned to be a better blocker as a pro. He is big and knows how to use his frame to box out smaller defenders as a receiver. Vannett will work behind second-year tight end Noah Fant.

Free-agent WR Nelson Agholor (Eagles) on Saturday, March 21, agreed to a one-year deal with the Las Vegas Raiders, according to a source.
Footballguys view: Agholor needed a fresh start after his time with the Eagles was mostly disappointing. The Raiders have Tyrell Williams and Hunter Renfrow as the top two receivers, but expect them to add a top-tier talent in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft.

Updating previous reports, Indianapolis Colts QB Philip Rivers' signing with the team was officially announced Saturday, March 21.
Footballguys view: Rivers gets a one-year deal with the Colts to be their starter so they can make a run. He had his greatest years in the NFL under Frank Reich when he was the quarterbacks coach with the Chargers. Rivers won't take long to get up to speed in the offense and we'll see if a fresh start does him a world of good.

Free-agent QB Jameis Winston (Buccaneers) on Saturday, March 21, posted a farewell tweet to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the city of Tampa. 'It's been a great 5 seasons as a Buccaneer. All love and respect, I love Tampa and I look forward to seeing y'all again in February,' Winston wrote on Twitter.
Footballguys view: The Bucs have moved on in a big way with Tom Brady as their new starting quarterback. Winston is a starter in this league but it will be interesting to see who gives him the chance. We should see him sign a new contract in the near future.

Arizona Cardinals RB Kenyan Drake on Saturday, March 21, signed his transition-tag tender offer.
Footballguys view: The Cardinals didn't want to lose Drake, so that's why they put the transition tag on him. With David Johnson traded away to the Texans, this is clearly Drake's backfield and he's an RB1 for Fantasy GMs in this fast-break offense. Signing a longer-term deal also remains a possibility for Drake this offseason.
