I think Montreal made the wrong choice with the #1 pick.

#1122Wild trade Cam Talbot to Senators in exchange for Filip Gustavsson
The Minnesota Wild traded goaltender Cam Talbot to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for goalie Filip Gustavsson on Tuesday. Minnesota is not retaining any of Talbot's salary.
"I’m excited about the move," Talbot said. "They already had a good young core and they made some good moves at the draft and have the space to still make a splash the next couple days. Looking forward to joining the group and helping to lead them back to the playoffs."
Talbot, 35, is going to the sixth team in his NHL career. Last season, he posted a 32-12-4 record with a 2.77 goals against average and .911 save percentage.
Gustavsson, 24, joins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury in Minnesota. He recorded a 5-12-1 record with a 3.55 GAA and .892 SV% last season. Minnesota has $4.279 million in additional cap space, which can potentially be used to sign prospects Marco Rossi, Calen Addison and Adam Beckman or other free agents.
This is the second trade involving a goaltender in consecutive days for the Senators. On Monday, Ottawa traded goalie Matt Murray to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Wild (53-22-7) finished second in the Central Division before losing to the St. Louis Blues in the playoffs. The Senators (33-42-7) placed seventh in the Atlantic Division, missing the playoffs.Comment -
#1123Senators wheelin and dealin... Hope it pans out for them!Comment -
#1124But what is Toronto thinking about acquiring Murray???Comment -
#1125Crazy day in free agency today.

Oilers getting Campbell in goal
Are the Leafs better in net now?Comment -

#1129It does seem to be the case with Toronto
I wonder if teams are placing less importance on goalies specifically, and perhaps more on defensemen. Maybe they just see a lack of any super-human goalies out there.
Shesterkin might be the exception, but wouldn't be surprised to see some decline from him in the coming season.
Vasilevskiy kinda looked tired in the Cup Final series.Comment -
#1130Murray and Samsonov in an open competition. 😙 see how that shakes out .Comment -
#1131Johnny Hockey signs for almost 10 mil a season, Jack Campbell for 25 mil.... Just ridiculous, teams are waaaaay over paying for guys.Comment -

#1146Huge trade …
Tkachuk traded to Florida for Huberdeau and a couple of other players and a draft pick . He signed a 8 year 76 million contract with the panthers . 💰Comment -

#1149It's a pretty good deal for both teams. I am a huge Tkachuk fan. Tkachuk was leaving no matter what and he's an elite player. Calgary got an elite player in return. A top 10 in the league player. American going to play in the US and 2 Canadians going up to Canada.
Both teams had a disappointing playoffs and both players were basically absent during the post season, so something needed to done.
Both Huberdeau and Weegar have one year left on their contacts. I assume the conditional pick will if Calgary will be able to sign Huberdeau. If they do sign him, then its a pretty even trade with Calgary maybe even winning it. Weegar could be the wildcard if he over exceeds in Calgary.Comment -
#1150I can't find any elaboration of the condition(s) on that Calgary 2025 first round pick from Florida, anybody know?Comment -
#1151Agree , good trade for both teams. 👍Comment -

"On road trips, Scott Bowman would leave a stick with the hotel front desk at curfew time, asking the clerk to get players to sign it. It was his simple way of deciphering which players were coming in late.
If anybody asked me for an autograph late at night, I always signed 'Darren McCarty"
