Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman has "stepped aside" from his role, the team announced Tuesday. Senior vice president of hockey operations Al MacIsaac is out, too, the team announced. The announcement comes as the Blackhawks release the results of an independent investigation they commissioned into sexual assault allegations against former video coach Brad Aldrich. Two lawsuits were filed against the organization alleging that Aldrich sexually assaulted a former Blackhawks player and a high school player in 2010.

Kyle Beach on Wednesday identified himself as the player at the center of the investigation into sexual abuse allegations against the Chicago Blackhawks from 2010, telling his story on TSN's "SportsCentre."
"It's been a … it's a big step for me, my process of recovery, as I process the events that happened and as I truly deal with the underlying issues that I have from them," Beach said. "For me, I wanted to come forward and put my name on this. To be honest, it's already out there. The details were pretty accurate in the report, and it's been figured out. More than that, I've been a survivor, I am a survivor. And I know I'm not alone.
"I know I'm not the only one, male or female. And I buried this for 10 years, 11 years. And it's destroyed me from the inside out. And I want everybody to know in the sports world and in the world that you're not alone, that if these things happen to you, you need to speak up."

Edmonton Oilers won Friday night on the road at Vegas Golden Knights, to earn a perfect 5-0-0 record to start the season.
They scored a Power Play goal, bringing their season conversion percentage to 47% success on the power play.
Penalty killing has also been effective at 88%
FYI the team plans on staying 2 more days in Vegas for "team building", so it will be interesting to see if they are ready to start their next game Wed night at home vs Philadelphia Flyers
Flyers went up 2-0 to start the game, then gave up the next 2, which looked like would be tied at the end of the First Period
But then Flyers scored in the closing seconds to lead at the 1p end by the score 3-2
Chicago with another loss to start 0 -5- 1 on the season
0-5-2 after Wed. night overtime home loss vs Toronto, in which the Blackhawks lead early 2-0, but gave up the final 3 goals in the game with Lankinen in the nets
Next game is Friday on the road in Carolina, which would appear to be a difficult matchup against the unbeaten Hurricanes, who have dominated the Blackhawks in recent history, going 7-2-1 in the past two years since Oct.26, 2019. The overtime loss was the result of the last meeting in which the Blackhawks won by 2-1 score on May 6, 2021
My prediction, only if Fleury starts this Friday night (awaiting confirmation), Blackhawks will win to snap their winless start to the current season
Florida is red hot and I've won a couple of times with them on this winning streak to start the season. It will be interesting to see how long they keep this up.
Joel Quenneville resigned from his position as head coach of the Florida Panthers following a meeting Thursday afternoon with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman at the league's office in New York.

Andrew Brunette will serve as interim head coach of the Florida Panthers.
He is 48 years old, was an assistant under Joel Quenneville, and played 1,110 NHL games before retiring in 2013, has no prior head-coaching experience. He joined the Panthers before the 2019-20 season.
Long-term we don't know.... could Mike Babcock show up here???

Fleury is not the projected starter of tonight's game in Carolina, so Lankinen will be in the nets. I guess that means Carolina will hand the Blackhawks their #8 Loss
BUT...(big but).... Blackhawks go to St.Louis on Saturday for a back-to-back..... expect Fleury to start that game and Blackhawks win
Crosby game-time decision for Penguins against Devils on Saturday
Center hasn't played this season because of wrist injury; Carter could return to lineup
by Wes Crosby / NHL.com Independent Correspondent CRANBERRY, Pa. -- Sidney Crosby and Jeff Carter each will be a game-time decision for the Pittsburgh Penguins against the New Jersey Devils at PPG Paints Arena on Saturday (7 p.m. ET; ATTSN-PT, MSG+, ESPN+, NHL LIVE).
The centers each practiced fully after skating on the second rink at UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex on Friday. They joined forwards Evgeni Malkin (knee) and Bryan Rust (lower body), who did not take part in practice. Crosby has not played this season after having wrist surgery Sept. 8; Carter has missed the past three games since entering the NHL COVID-19 protocol Oct. 22. "[Carter's] practice today was real encouraging," Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said. "The good thing about him, because he was asymptomatic, he was able to ride the bike, work out and train throughout the process, which I think is a big help for him when he does get back on the ice for a day like today. So he responded really well to the practice. "As of right now, his status would be a game-time decision. We're certainly really encouraged with what we saw today. Sid is a similar circumstance. He will be a game-time decision tomorrow as well. But certainly, we were really encouraged by his practice today." Crosby was first-line center for a second straight practice after returning to that spot Wednesday. Carter, who was center on the first line the first four games this season, took rushes at second-line center. They each practiced on the top power-play unit. Carter said he hadn't been on the ice for 10 days before practicing Friday. "I felt really good the whole time. I didn't have any issues," Carter said. "I was able to do some bike rides and stuff like that. But when you're stuck in the basement there's not a ton you can do. So was able to do what I could." If Crosby and Carter don't play Saturday, they next would have a chance to play at home against the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday. "My 6-year-old at home is excited for whenever [Crosby] can get back on the ice," forward Brian Boyle said. "He was disappointed last night. … I got him a Penguins jersey. He turned it around. I saw the disappointment on his face when it said 'Boyle, 11' on it." The Penguins (3-2-2) have been outscored 9-1 in two straight losses after starting the season on a five-game point streak. They have played each of their seven games without Crosby and Malkin, who is expected to be out until at least December after having knee surgery June 4. When healthy, Crosby and Malkin would be the top two centers with Carter on the third line. Rust, who is week to week with a lower-body injury and has missed the past five games, normally is first-line right wing. Pittsburgh also is without top-pair defenseman Kris Letang, who entered COVID-19 protocol Saturday. Crosby led the Penguins with 62 points (24 goals, 38 assists) in 55 games last season. Carter scored 11 points (nine goals, two assists) in 14 games with Pittsburgh last season after being acquired in a trade from the Los Angeles Kings on April 12. He has scored four points (one goal, three assists) in four games this season. Crosby said after practice Oct. 29 that the wrist injury had bothered him since March 23, 2014, when New York Rangers forward Ryan Reaves, then with the St. Louis Blues, caught him in the wrist. He said the issue normally would resolve itself with rest during the offseason. After the wrist didn't respond how it usually would this offseason, Crosby said surgery was the only option to avoid missing significant games later in the regular season. "He looks like Sidney Crosby," said forward Evan Rodrigues, who was right wing on the first line with Crosby on Friday. "It looks like he hasn't missed a beat. From the first drill of practice he goes 100 miles an hour and is playing at a top speed. It's nice to have him back. Hopefully he gets in a game here soon."
Chicago Blackhawks owner Rocky Wirtz wrote a letter on Thursday to Hockey Hall of Fame chairman Lanny McDonald, demanding the removal of disgraced video coach Brad Aldrich’s name from the Stanley Cup.

Babcock has much more baggage than Q. As a Blues fan, I hope they don’t go after Blues ass’t Jim Montgomery.
there was a good point made on a radio show Friday, that maybe for now Florida should just simply stay the course with the interim coach, rather than interject a new person outside of the organization

Your prediction was close hotcross. Fleury played great, but Hawks just couldn't manage to score, Blues win 1-0 on lone 3rd period goal.

Kyle Beach, who says he was the victim of sexual assault at the hands of a Chicago coach a decade ago, will meet with team officials on Tuesday, The Athletic reported. Beach sued the team earlier this year. Last week, lawyers for the Chicago club filed documents asking in support of their previous motion to dismiss lawsuits filed by Beach and another person. The team contends the filings were legal procedures and that they intend to enter settlement talks with Beach.
