According to the Wall Street Journal, the Penguins are in talks to have the team sold to the Fenway Sports Group. They currently own the Boston Red Sox and the Liverpool soccer team in the English Premier League.
Mario Lemieux and Ron Burkle have owned the Penguins since 1999 and have overseen the franchise win three Stanley Cups during that time. The Penguins also own the NHL’s longest current active playoff streak at 15 straight years.
Lemieux and Burkle bought the team when the value was severely low on them (they were in bankruptcy) and the sale could potentially eclipse $850M if it goes through.

It's a long season though so I'm not worried and I did just get Mark Stone back so maybe I start to turn things around.
      Carolina tomorrow night ....

Anton Khudobin gets the start in goal for Dallas Stars road game at Minnesota.... He started his NHL career there with a relief appearance, then a game he started and won for Minnesota in Feb.2010

He doesn't have the greatest record against his old team, but I have a feeling he and the Stars will play a good game. Maybe Overtime??

Unfortunately Khudobin ended up getting pulled after letting in goals 4 and 5 within 45 seconds of each other. Kaprizov was hot, with a 4 point night.

NHL Buzz: Zibanejad in COVID-19 protocol for Rangers

                        New York Rangers

Mika Zibanejad was placed in COVID-19 protocol by the Rangers on Saturday.
The center ranks fourth on the Rangers this season with 14 points (four goals, 10 assists) in 17 games.
Zibanejad missed most of training camp last season after testing positive for COVID-19; he did not miss any regular-season games and led the Rangers in goals (24) and was second in points (50) behind Artemi Panarin (54).
The Rangers next play against the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday; their game at the Ottawa Senators on Saturday was postponed because of COVID-19 concerns.

The Quebec Nordiques could soon be returning to an arena near you.
Quebec Premier Francois Legault is in discussions with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman to bring back the defunct franchise. RDS reports that Legault will be meeting with senior leaders of the NHL in early 2022.
"You have to look to know who is ready to invest," Legault said. "We have an amphitheater already built in Quebec and we are making contacts with Commissioner Gary Bettman to find out what we need to bring back the Nordiques."

I’m sure Isles will make up lots of ground when players come back and playing more home games rest of the season.

Dallas Stars indicated that 2nd year goalie Jake Oettinger will be starting more games than the pace they kept him on

His stats in 2 starts this year: 2 wins, .955 save pct, and 1.43 GAA goals against per game

All the games in his previous stint up were low attendance bubble games, and his record in those was pretty good. This season's two games at .9955, he likes to play in front of fans.

Defenseman seventh New York player unavailable after testing positive

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. -- Zdeno Chara became the seventh player on the New York Islanders roster to enter NHL COVID-19 protocol when he tested positive for the virus Monday.

The defenseman joins forwards Josh Bailey, Anders Lee, Kieffer Bellows and Ross Johnston, and defensemen Adam Pelech and Andy Greene in protocol. Forward Anthony Beauvillier had a false positive test and missed a 5-2 loss to the Calgary Flames on Saturday. He returned for a 3-0 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday.
The Islanders will also be without center Brock Nelson for 2-4 weeks because of a lower-body injury sustained in the first period Sunday. Nelson leads them in goals (nine) and points (11) this season.
"We'll continue to do what we have control of," Islanders general manager Lou Lamoriello said before practice Tuesday. "You can't deal with things that are out of your hands. Certainly, these are difficult times, but we will stay focused on the players we have, what our abilities are to replace players if necessary and just stay as positive as we possibly can.
"I don't think there's any way you could approach this or handle this any differently."
The Islanders (5-8-2) are on a six-game losing streak (0-6-0) and scheduled to play the New York Rangers at UBS Arena on Wednesday. They delayed practice Tuesday until the afternoon to allow time for more testing.
Lamoriello said none of the players in protocol would be available for the game Wednesday. He said he had dialogue with the NHL on Monday about a possible postponement.
"There is no decision, to my knowledge," Lamoriello said. "We're preparing to play unless we hear otherwise."
Ryan Pulock (lower body) is out 4-6 weeks. The defenseman was injured in the second period of a 4-1 loss at the Tampa Bay Lightning on Nov. 15 after blocking a shot from forward Mathieu Joseph and appearing to limp off the ice.
Forward Anatoli Golyshev and defenseman Thomas Hickey were recalled from Bridgeport of the American Hockey League on Tuesday. Lamoriello said the Islanders are also willing to make a trade for reinforcements, but there is nothing imminent.
"Whatever can do to get better, we would," Lamoriello said. "But we will be getting our players back, and I can assure you that I've gotten calls. Many teams want to help us in different ways but not that could really help us."

Sillinger is just the sixth 18-year-old to play for the club, joining Rostislav Klesla (2000), Rick Nash (2002), Dan Fritsche (2003), Gilbert Brule (2005) and Nikita Filatov (2008). Of the group, he was the fourth youngest to make his debut at 18 years, 151 days. Only Klesla (18-88), Nash (18-116) and Filatov (18-145) were younger.
