After surviving a Sunday scare against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Kansas City Chiefs remain the betting favorites by the 2025 Super Bowl odds entering Week 3.

The two-time defending champions are 2-0 with title odds as short as +440 after a controversial 26-25 win over the Bengals in a battle of NFL MVP odds contenders.

Meanwhile, two other title contenders - the San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions - saw their odds lengthen after surprising losses Sunday. However, those two teams are still getting the shortest odds of any NFC clubs across the best Super Bowl betting sites.

The Houston Texans also remain firmly in the mix after beating the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football. That result shook up the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds after another clunker from Caleb Williams.

We highlighted the Chiefs and Bengals in our preseason Super Bowl predictions, and we still like their chances to win it all as we examine the latest Super Bowl odds after Week 2.

Super Bowl favorites

Chiefs (+490)

It wasn't always pretty, but the Chiefs found a way to win Sunday and remain perfect after a late penalty on fourth down kept their final drive alive.

Wins over the Ravens and Bengals - two of the toughest opponents for Kansas City in the Patrick Mahomes era - is one heck of a way to begin a title defense and an attempt to become the first team to ever win three straight Super Bowls.

We likely won't see these odds jump above +500 across our NFL betting sites until Kansas City loses a game. And as we saw last year, even that doesn't do much to deter oddsmakers from keeping the perennial champions from their rightful perch.

If they do win it all for the third straight time, a $10 wager via FanDuel would return a $49.50 profit.

Best odds: +490 via FanDuel | Implied probability: 16.95%

49ers (+650)

Is it too early to panic if you're a Niners bettor? After a relatively ho-hum win last week against the New York Jets, San Francisco (-3.5) fell flat on Sunday in a stunning 23-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

The 49ers turned it over twice and were sacked six times, and they finished a worrying 2-for-10 on third down. But their defense might be the more significant concern after Sam Darnold carved 'em up for 268 yards and two touchdowns while guiding Minnesota's offense to 403 total yards.

San Francisco was without Christian McCaffrey (Achilles), who was placed on injured reserve on Saturday and could be out as much as six weeks. That's partly why this team's odds ballooned to +650 with a $10 bet returning a $65 profit.

My Super Bowl pick to watch

Packers (+2700)

I've cycled the Bengals, Rams, and Falcons in this spot over the last few weeks, and I still like the value on all of them despite 0-2 starts.

But it feels like the market is especially sleeping on the Packers, especially with star quarterback Jordan Love (MCL) looking increasingly likely to beat his early prognosis and return at some point this month.

Even without him, Green Bay bullied the Colts in Sunday's 16-10 win, rushing for 261 yards and forcing three interceptions and three fumbles. The Packers also held Indy to 2-for-9 on third down during a strong showing for Jeff Hafley's defense.

If that side of the ball is really this improved and the run game is this dominant, these odds feel like a steal for a team that was a trendy dark-horse title contender before Love went down ... especially if he's back soon.

Best odds: +2700 via FanDuel | Implied probability: 3.57%

AFC championship odds

The Chiefs are still the team to beat in the AFC after dispatching the Ravens and Bengals in consecutive weeks.

Watch out for the Bills, who have jumped into the second spot after beating the Dolphins on Thursday Night Football. They sit just ahead of the Texans, who remain dangerous with C.J. Stroud under center.

NFC championship odds

The NFC feels wide open after two weeks, as the 49ers and Lions - the conference favorites entering the season - both have a loss on their resume.

San Francisco is still the favorite ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles, who play on Monday Night Football. Those two sit ahead of Detroit, while the Cowboys and Saints have identical odds after the latter blasted the former on Sunday.

Super Bowl 2025 exact matchup odds

If you're looking for a fun way to chase long-shot profits, you can try to predict the exact matchup for Super Bowl 2025. The current favorite is a (second) rematch between the Chiefs and 49ers, with those two teams featured prominently among all the top options in this market.

Be forewarned that the math typically isn't in your favor for a bet like these, as it's essentially a parlay on the AFC and NFC champions rolled into one bet. It's hard enough to predict one winner, so proceed with caution and view this as more of an entertainment bet with the upside of a major payday.

Super Bowl 2025 exact result odds

As if it wasn't hard enough just to pick the finalists, you can make an even greater return if you accurately predict the exact result of Super Bowl 2025.

Once again, a repeat of last year's result - the Chiefs beating the 49ers - is the likeliest outcome in oddsmakers' minds, though these +1500 odds still only imply a 6.25% chance of that happening for a second straight year and third time in six seasons.

How to bet on the Super Bowl

Betting into the Super Bowl market is one of the most popular but challenging things to do successfully as a sports bettor. You have to carefully consider a mix between a team's viability in the regular season and its aptitude for the postseason.

First, you need to consider a team's ability to make the playoffs, which feature seven teams in each conference with a first-round bye for the No. 1 seed. That last part is key - the top seed in each conference routinely reaches (and wins) the Super Bowl, so betting on an elite regular-season team is a solid way to succeed in this market.

That said, a team's postseason success tends to be highly correlated to quarterback play, coaching, and elite defense. That's been the formula for decades, and while a top-flight defense is perhaps the least important of those three, there are only so many franchise quarterbacks and championship-level coaches around.

That's why the Kansas City Chiefs, led by Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid, have won two straight Super Bowls and three of the last five. It's also why most Super Bowl winners tend to enter the season with odds shorter than 10/1, as the teams with those key elements in place are the ones you can expect to survive through February.

How to read Super Bowl odds

A crucial step to betting on the Super Bowl is understanding how the odds work. Put simply, American odds represent how much money you would win on a $100 wager - or, in some cases, how much money you would need to wager to return $100.

Let's refer to an example. The Kansas City Chiefs opened with +750 odds to win the 2025 Super Bowl. That means a $100 bet at those odds would return $750 in profit, or a $10 bet would return $75 in profit. You could even bet $1 for a $7.50 return if Kansas City does indeed win its third consecutive championship this February.

A team like the Houston Texans, which opened at +2500 odds, would return a whopping $2,500 in profit if they win their first Super Bowl. Of course, those odds suggest they are much less likely to do so, as those +2500 odds represent an implied probability of just 3.85% according to our odds converter.

As we get closer to the Big Game, you may see a team dealing at "negative" odds. For example, the San Francisco 49ers were priced at -125 ahead of Super Bowl 58, meaning you would need to bet $125 to win $100, or $12.50 to win $10.

You'll want to be careful staking too much on bets with minus odds, as what can seem like a "sure thing" is always vulnerable to the chaos and unpredictability of sports.
