NHL betting sites

The best hockey betting apps consider many betting options when thinking about their users. For example, how is the variety of betting markets beyond the traditional fixed odds bets such as Moneyline and game totals? Sportsbooks tend to set themselves apart by offering more choices for NHL betting markets, especially futures and player/game prop bets.

Another way to stand out from the crowd is to offer same-game parlays. This bet type is very popular with casual bettors, and the wide variety of same-game parlay options bettors can create keeps them coming back for more.

With all that said, the best sportsbook app currently is still DraftKings promo code. It is the most user-friendly, and the plethora of prop betting options is enough to keep many playing regularly. Customer service is also very efficient, with quick response times and friendly support staff always willing to lend a hand.

NHL live betting sites

One of the best new inventions to hit the sports betting industry is live betting. NHL live betting is when bets are placed during the game with continuously fluctuating odds based on current events.

For example, the New York Rangers are up against the New York Islanders. The opening line favored the Rangers at -120 Moneyline odds, but they are now down 2-0 heading into the third period. As such, the live moneyline odds for the Rangers are now +340, given their likelihood of winning has dramatically changed since the opening puck drop.

Hockey live betting apps are easy to find for the most part, and most sportsbooks are very similar in their layout and odds to the desktop live betting sites. Keeping an eye on NHL live betting odds throughout the game is a strategic way to pounce on in-game betting values, as oddsmakers can only move so fast.

🏒 2025 Stanley Cup odds

Below are the current Stanley Cup betting odds. The Florida Panthers beat the Edmonton Oilers in an all-time classic 2024 Stanley Cup Finals. The Oilers displaced the Panthers as the favorites to hoist the Stanley Cup in 2025 at the start of the season. Now, four teams, the Panthers, Oilers, Dallas Stars, and Carolina Hurricanes, have the shortest odds to win the championship this year.

NHL betting types

There are many ways to play when it comes to NHL betting types. Some of the most popular markets include:

1. NHL moneyline bets

An NHL moneyline bet is when you’ve bet on one team to win outright against the other. Sometimes, hockey Moneyline wagers can be referred to as a ‘3-way bet’. In this instance, the team you’ve bet on must win outright in regulation time – meaning overtime and shootout wins still count as a loss.

2. NHL spread (puckline) bets

An NHL spread bet, sometimes referred to as an NHL puckline bet, is a more specific version of moneyline betting. Each team is assigned spread odds in combination with American odds. For example, if the New York Rangers were -1.5 (-130), it would mean the team is favored to win by two goals or more. However, if their odds were +1.5 (-130), that would mean it was favored to lose by less than two goals (or win outright).

3. NHL totals (over/under) bets

An NHL totals bet, also known as an over/under bet, typically refers to the final score of a game. For example, if the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens had a total set at 5.5 goals, you would need six goals or more for your bet to hit if you had taken the Over. However, if you had taken the under, you would need these teams to combine for five goals or less for the wager to win.

4. NHL futures bets

An NHL futures bet is about the least predictable one you can make, and luckily, the odds reflect this as they are always long and lucrative due to that uncertainty. These bet types can include odds on both teams and individual players. Some examples would be ‘Outright Stanley Cup Winner,’ ‘Outright Conference Champion,’ ‘Top Goalscorer,’ or even ‘Outright MVP Winner.’

5. NHL prop bets

NHL prop bets are some of the most fun to make. This form of betting began years ago with the Super Bowl and has successfully transcended into other sports leagues and affiliated betting markets. Many prop bets are over/under bets, like ‘Connor McDavid over/under 0.5 power play points’ or ‘Auston Matthews over/under 3.5 shots’. Others involve picking a player, such as Leon Draisaitl, to score a goal at any time.

6. NHL parlay bets

An NHL parlay bet involves combining multiple bets to win a lucrative payout should they all hit. Every single bet added to the parlay is referred to as a ‘leg,’ meaning a ‘three-leg parlay’ would signify combining three bets into one. For example, combining a Rangers moneyline bet with an Islanders over/under bet and an Artemi Panarin goal prop bet. If just one of the three fails, the whole parlay loses.

How we rate & review NHL sportsbooks

Sportsbook Review naturally approaches NHL sportsbook reviews in a caring, meticulous way. The critical factors include payout speeds and customer service.

As you become more familiar with sports betting — especially NHL betting — you will start to form your winning systems and strategies. Remember that we are committed to giving you the best available information and resources here at Sportsbook Review so you can make an educated wager.

What to look for in an NHL betting site

The sheer volume of available NHL betting sites can be daunting for anyone, but it becomes easier to navigate once you know what to look for. At Sportsbook Review, we’re very serious about our criteria as it’s our bread-and-butter when presenting an accurate and fair analysis of each sportsbook.

Some of our key performance metrics include:

NHL odds shopping

A common practice among NHL sports bettors is to engage in ‘odds shopping’ or ‘line shopping.’ Most sportsbooks will have similar odds for the same betting markets even though each sportsbook has a unique algorithm developed by their oddsmakers.

Sometimes the disparity can be huge between one book and another, especially in future markets like the Stanley Cup winner. NHL odds shopping provides the most value as you’ve just found a way to boost your odds.

Payout speed

Payout speed and the speed at which bonus credits from promotions are transferred into account balances can vary between operators. Some sportsbooks will payout within 24 hours for withdrawals and bonus credit deposits, so it’s essential to know which sportsbooks handle transactions at the fastest rate. The variety of payment methods is also significant, as some are unavailable in certain states.

Customer support

Like payout speed, customer service is critical as it’s nice to know you’re covered if anything goes wrong. The sportsbooks that can provide the best customer service make all the difference, especially since some operators don’t offer instantaneous support. For example, some sportsbooks have real-time assistance, such as phone and live chat support, whereas others use slower communication mediums like social media or email.

How to sign up at an NHL betting site

The sign-up process for most NHL betting sites isn’t too tricky, but it can be unclear for those who haven’t done it before. Luckily, Sportsbook Review has a very in-depth guide for betting on hockey, so you’ll be a pro in no time.

Stanley Cup history

The Stanley Cup is the trophy awarded to the team who has won the NHL championship at the end of each postseason. It is named after Lord Stanley of Preston, the Governor General of Canada in the late 1800s and donated the original silver bowl now on display at the Hockey Hall of Fame. It was first awarded to the 'Montreal Hockey Club' in 1893, an amateur hockey team, as the Stanley Cup would not be eligible to be awarded to professional hockey teams until 1906.

The Stanley Cup Finals don’t occur until June, but betting on the winner can start as early as the previous off-season, thanks to future bets. At some point during the off-season — usually, after the beginning of the free agent period — oddsmakers will open a Stanley Cup outright betting market with an algorithm based on projections for the following season.

Other futures markets pertain to results before the Stanley Cup final, such as division and conference Titles. Division titles are decided at the end of the regular season by who finishes with the most points in one of the four divisions. The Conference title is decided in the postseason by winning the Eastern or Western Conference, similar to the NBA conference title market. You'll also be able to bet on the Vezina Trophy winnerRocket Richard Trophy winnerHart Trophy (league MVP) winner, and more.
