Closing odds on the-odds-api.com

I trialed the site with their $25 option to check out the historical odds endpoint.

It looks to me for their historical odds you can get the odds for a league (say NBA) and the response will list the markets you've specific for a given datetime.

Thing is there doesn't seem to be a discrete, obvious way to check what were the closing odds of an event. A hack would be to get the odds at the last interval before the game start time but that's a hack and ultimately not even accurate.

I've asked them on Twitter and email, no response.

I want to use this API because pricing isn't bad but this seems an oversight - on my part or theirs.

Does anyone know if it can be done on this API and if not anyone got a decent alternative (API for getting closing prices on all markets in say NBA back to 2017)?

I can't provide you with any technical assistance. I take it you couldn't get the data from the old SBR classic odds when it was working here? If so BMR has that software with data going back to Jan '18, but it's a pain just to get it on the screen let alone scrap it.

There is no industry standard line at any time and that includes a closing line. When I lifted NFL odds data to Excel from SBR, (because I lack technical skills), I always had to calculate a weighted average.

No I hadn't been using that but have had a scraper I made myself that got odds from oddsportal.com. Since they changed their site at the start of the year it's too much work adjusting to the new logic there. So looking for a predictable API from hereon.

Ironically, I found the site 3 days ago. I asked them if they have opening odds and they said no, BUT they are working on that idea. I still use the FREE service, but I don't know anything about historical odds. I do know they will email you back and forth and they are very friendly so far. I have an ongoing email correspondence with them. I even replied to my original sign-up email, etc. As far as I know they update the odds more and more in shorter intervals as the game-time gets closer. So far so good for me as far as line accuracy.

I got a response from them too. They will add closing odds and agree that the only workaround in the meantime is get the last update for the event before close. Good enough.

I'll keep an eye on their twitter where they announce additions to the product. They have very good pricing for their target market: the small-beer coding bettor like me who doesn't need the granularity of the big players.
