    Line Movement Historical Data
    Hi,
I am interested in analyzing line movement historical data. For each game, the data would log every change in price and points. Do you know if such data is available? Thanks for your help. The question I would like to answer with the historical data is how smart is the early money. Since the books try to balance the money wagered on both sides, so the movement from the openning line would tell us on which side the early money was betting on. Over the long haul, does the early money fare any better than a random picker at the openning line? Thanks for your insight.

SBR has line movement data. I think they began tracking it in mid Oct. 2006. Before that i can't help you. To access SBR's line data go to:

Run the cursor over the sport you want at the top of the page and go to "Odds and Scores". The info is there for all the top books!

As a side note: For baseball I have found all the results are not there. A lot of games show 0 0 for a final score. The line data is there but the final scores I"ve had to go to MLB.com to verify. I hope this helps.

I messed around with this awhile for both college and NFL football, and I couldn't find anything. If the line moved big during the week, sometimes it was best to bet on the dog, and sometimes on the favorite. In other words, I couldn't see a pattern. That doesn't mean no one else can find one, though.
