Blinkers ON 1st time - USA Racing
    Hi,

I know I am going to ask a very dumb question here - in England - there are easy ways to get all the horses running that day in England - that are running with BLINKERS ON 1st TIME - it is one of my favourite angles to play.

Does anyone know if there's an easy web-page for daily BLINKERS ON 1st TIME list for American racing everyday.

Would be a BIG time saver !

Had to read twice but then found to be very important question. Blinkers on for the first time is a huge plus and a large money maker. They are almost an automatic bet. If one had a source naming all for the day it could be huge.

Hi, been through yesterday's PPs - so I might make this thread - a BLINKERS 1ST TIME record.

The qualifiers will be horses racing 1st time with BLINKERS - with the trainer having a profitable record with them.

Hi, well I am going through Bris Ultimate PPs and looking for 1st time blinkers on with a trainer profitable angle - it takes a bit of time.

In England, 1st BLINKERS ON is a good profitable angle - will carry on with this thread as it is good discipline for me to analyse the cards and makes me concetrate on the racing more.

If I come across a 1st time BLINKERS OFF - I will include.

By the way - there were no qualifiers on 23rd, 24th or 25th February - if anyone is following this thread

If you don't mind me tossing in my 2 cents, IMO you can not blindly bet the blinkers on or the blinkers off horses in the USA. You have to know the trainers record with each . Also, it used to be that in order to change either way, the horse must break in the morning from the gate with the changed equipment and get an OK card before entering. I would be shocked if that was not still the case. Next time I talk to one of the guys I will ask them.
Now quite often a trainer would simply break and clear the chute, (1/8th of a mile and stop the work from there and get the horse back to a gallop before 3/8ths of a mile. So no workout was published as a rule. This was NOT to deceive anybody but simply allow the horse to get the card and not have to work out if none was needed which quite often it wasn't. However, plenty of horses , especially with blks. "on" would be showing brisk speed away from the gate and as a result, they showed a published 3/8s work , albeit in 38 or 39 but that was very telling in that the horse worked that speed while pulling up after an 1/8th. When you saw that, it was time to go to the windows unless there was a real good reason not to. Those types won quite often.

As for blks. off, a small % of trainers are actually very successful doing this. Baffert is, and I know Larry Murray in Md. definitely is. But, in my case, when I went blks. off, it was because my experiment had failed. I doubt I ever won with blks off and because of that, I rarely did it, I simply cut the cups back to cheaters which are roughly one inch cups, or hardly anything but yet, still blinkers on. But if you followed me in blks. on only, I am sure you would have done very well as I had my share of bombs in that department over the years, especially with maidens claimers, and really especially when you stretched them out.

So IMO , follow the success or lack thereof of the trainer in both categories but do not combine them, keep them separate, and that will be your best bet.

                            Hope that helps everyone.

                                Dear STR - excellent feedback.

I have set some filters on my research

Trainer has to show ROI US$2.00+ - i.e. break even and below for graded starts for 1st time BLINKERS ON: -

3 starts and a winning percent of 100%
4-6 starts and a winning percent of at least 50%
7-15 starts and a winning percent of at least 40%
16-30 starts and a winning percent of at least 30%

                                So, today - Friday 28th Feb - there's 1 qualifier
Oaklawn Park Race 7 - Denali South Peak - Trainer Martin T
My stats I am using shows - he has 8 starts - 50% win strike rate and an ROI of 5.38

31 or more starts and a winning percent of at least 25%

Half Strike was 3rd - so I think this angle is not really that profitable - so will not carry on with this thread now - will keep an eye on blikers 1st time and see if there's a profit angle to it - but at the moment - following JUST the trainers -doesn't seem the way to go
