Using superfecta to bet that a horse finishes 4th...can someone help me?

I pick one horse per race and bet X to win, 2X to place, and 4X to show. I have noticed that my picks come in 4th quite a lot. Today out of 18 races I had 4 picks that came in 4th.

I'm trying to figure out how I can use a superfecta to bet that my pick comes in 4th. That way, along with my X to win, 2X to place, and 4X to show, if my pick comes in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th, I win.

The problem is that by the time you put 8 over 7 over 6 over 1 you have 336 tickets at $2 each. That part doesn't bother me, but I have to bet the Win, Place, and Show in a way that if one of those win i have covered the superfecta bet. Maybe this isn't possible.

I just know had I done this today I would have won many thousands of dollars on the superfecta and would not have had to mess at all with the other bets.

I have been tracking this for a while and my picks come in 4th about 20% of the time and most of my picks are at 4-1 or higher odds.

Many of the tracks offer $1 tickets on exotics and some even allow ten cent superfecta tickets. Grant it any potential payoff is lower on the ten center but this will accomplish what you're wanting long as the show price will cover the win, place and superfecta tickets - just "math" it out - also take into account the payout is based on the number of winning tickets and the amount in the pool which vary GREATLY. It is my opinion that this could be done only "at the track" watching the toteboard extremely close with the help of others (to get the tickets in on time).

Here is an example that in theory that should work if the horse wins:
provided the winning horse will pay at least $6.00, $4.00 and $3.00.

Then construct the following tickets, $50 win, $100 place, $200 show & superfecta ticket can have/use seven (7) horses [1,2,3,4,5,6,7 with 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 with 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 with "X"].

"Proof"
win: 25 tickets @ $6 = $150
place: 50 tickets @ $4 = $200
show: 100 tickets @$3 = $300
superfecta: 1 ticket with seven = $210
This would then generate $180 per race (as long as the above mentioned prices are met or exceeded).

Or you can key
say 12345/12345/12345/6 for $6 for the .10

or $60 for the $1 and so on just like you can key win place or show.
