    Freehold racetrack is shutting down
Historic N.J. racetrack is shutting down (msn.com)

I'm an original Jersey boy, I've spent a lot of take-home pay between Freehold, Meadowlands, Monmouth, and Atlantic City.

Shame to see it go, but let's face it, it's time.
Freehold is old, dirty, and all the trotter money in the northeast goes to the Meadowlands.
Not to mention Freehold is situated on US Routes 9 and 33.
Ever been? Driving on Route 9 is not for the faint of heart, you're taking your life in your hands.
Route 9 is like I-95 but with two fewer lanes.

Drove right by it on the way to and from Monmouth Park and Md. I never went in but must admit it looked like it needed to be torn down in the 70’s.
It almost made Pimlico look fresh and clean.
    Key word there is almost.
