#48Spent half of the day doing a deep dive into the cup races this weekend and here are my quick notes:
- Rain could be a factor
- ~75% chance of rain Friday (practice/qualifying)
- ~70% chance of rain Saturday (heat races/truck race)
- ~40% chance of rain Sunday (open/all-star race)
- Qualifying order is determined by season point standings, not the normal formula. If qualifying is cancelled the heat race starting order would be again be determined by the point standings. Same for the open and all-star races if both qualifying and the heats are cancelled.
- Top two from open race and the winner of the fan vote will transfer to the all-star race.
- Open race is 100 laps with a caution at lap 50.
- ASR is 200 laps with a caution at lap 100.
- The track was just repaved in November 2023. Bumps/track irregularities still similar to before the repave
- Joey Logano, Ty Gibbs, and William Byron did a tire test here for Goodyear in March. (Eckes, Heim, and Rhodes did testing for trucks)
- Interviews with drivers after tests indicated that the track was faster and had more grip (obviously). They though the additional grip would allow the top line to last longer on restarts last year but that everyone would end up single file eventually.
- ASR qualifying will be three laps
- Drivers will take the green and complete their first lap
- they will come down pit road on lap two and complete a 4 tire stop
- then leave pit road and race to the finish line. Total time will be their qualifying time
- Three types of tires will be available:
- Prime - I believe these are just typical short track tires, used at Phoenix this year and during the testing
- Option - slicks but made with the same rubber as the wet weather tires. Should be faster and have more grip but will fall off more quickly
- Wet Weather - self explanatory
- Three sets of primes and two sets of option tires are available for practice, qualifying, and the open/heat races
- Two sets of primes and two sets of option tires will be available for the ASR. Drivers must start on option tires for the ASR.
Comment - Rain could be a factor

#49My takeaways are as follows:
- Racing likely won't be great, similar to last year. Still hard to pass, might get some more action on restarts. Big unknown is the speed difference between the prime and option tires which could possibly create some action with drivers on different strategies.
- Gibbs should have a big advantage in the open race since he is the only one in it that tested here. He will get more an advantage if practice/qualifying is cancelled since he will start on the pole, it's a short race, and he'll be the only one to have run any laps on the new surface.
- Logano and Byron should have an advantage in the ASR (same as above). Gibbs will have to start in the back if he does make it from open to ASR which will make things tough for him.
- Larson will miss practice/qualifying Friday because he'll be qualifying for the Indy 500. Kevin Harvick will fill in for him but he'll have to start his from the back in his heat race. BUT if practice/qualifying gets rained out he will be starting on the pole since he is the current points leader.

#50- William Byron is a fxcing pussy and Ryan Blaney should kill him like he said he would on his radio on Sunday. He should also punch his sister in the face for dating that little bitch.
