Better to be a #4 seed than #1 seed?
    What do you think?

As a 4 seed, you have a 50/50 chance of playing the 12 seed in the second round thus giving you a higher chance of getting to the sweet 16 than if you are playing against an 8/9 team which are usually hail from power conferences and are battle tested, but just haven't lived up to expectations. For example, Kentucky, Arizona, and Wisconsin.

Basically if you are a #1, you are also giving the 8 or 9 team a week to prepare for you too becuase they know the 16 is not going to beat a one, but the opposite does not exist. If you are a 1, you know it is a coin flip who you are going to play.

Not that a 12 can't beat a 4, but I think there is a less chance of that in the second round than Bucknell beating Memphis or Arizona beating Villanova. Or even UCONN playing a battle tested Kentucky teams that has talent, but just has played poorly in stretches this year. To me, right this moment in only the 2nd round,Boston College has the best draw and they are a 4.

    Thoughts?

    4 vs 12

Agree...but consider the LSU/A&M game (4 vs 12), LSU is tough and should handle the A&M team, they won't have to face Duke until the 3rd round. I think Duke will lose sooner or later and the 3rd round seems possible. Duke is a basic one man team and if Redick goes cold they could hit rock bottom instead of the bottom of the net! LSU plays good defense and will shuttle players in and out on Redick.

Bost Coll/ Montana is a good draw for BC, as they will most liekly face Villanova in the 3rd round. BC plays as hard as they have to in order to get a victory and should make the final 4. The 1 seed Villanova is not as strong as the other 3 no.1's and in the Minneapolis brackets only Ohio st. stands in their way, or perhaps Florida.

So, if you're a 4 seed...yea not a bad place to be, as your odds are 50-50 you'll face the no.12 team.
