However you will get paid should you use your freeplay on a parlay type wager where one selection pushes and one wins. Reduced payout but still miles better than losing lol

From a strategic POV your best bet may be to pick your play from the spreads that are on a half point otherwise you are essentially losing a half point. example Celtics -2.5 -105 instead of Celtics -2 -110

yea its a rough one if you dont know the rules and some books will even give you another shot at it if you ask nicely. For us, we are giving away free play points every day without having to deposit so its still fun and maybe you learn before you bet after real $ deposit at a book
