I actually know this.... or so I think.

It is a team that is the underdog at home.

Is there a thread anywhere where most of the acronyms are? There are tons that I don't know.

RL stands for runline in baseball. Also known as a spread (-1.5/+1.5)

Squares are unskilled bettors who lose money in the long term. Most sports bettors are squares. The opposite of a square is a sharp.

That term generally refers to betting big moneylines (ex -300 or $300 to win $100)

Betting the opposite. Theory has it that most sports bettors lose money in the long term, so find one that sucks really bad and "fade" him. For example : Brandon Lang

                                  Reverse Line Movement.

Usually when ever large number of bets come in on one side, the line starts large number of bets are coming in on one side. For example, Miami -2 with 60% of the bets, however as more bets come in the line might move to -2.5 with 65% of the money is on it, and -3 and so on.

In reverse line movement, the public is actually betting one side but the line is moving opposite side. For example people are betting 60% on Houston -3, a day later it moved to 70% -2. This is RLM, it usually means that sharps are on the other side.

In this case the bettors are definately liking the underdog. Especially since the line moved past a key number (in this case 3)

Personally I would either pass on such game or bet the -2.5

I tend to fade the public. (Fade meaning the public is moving on the underdog, so I would take the favorite or pass in this case)

Hi. I'm completely new to the sport betting world.
                                          In Paul's Soccer Experiment:
Could anyone help me decipher what this means: 94- Terek Groznyi/Tom Tomsk UNDER 2, 2.5 -114 (Russian Premier)I think the first number 94- is just the number of the bet he made in the forum thread.
Terek Groznyi and Tom Tomsk I believe are the teams.
                                          What is UNDER 2, 2.5 - 114?
                                          Who is he betting for?

                                                    Example. 1unit on a team
2unit on a team. Please help with this one.
Units = $100 for MOST bettors. there are some that use it in $10 increments to sound like they're betting more but it's normally $100.

                                                    2.5 units = $250

Hey, it would be very useful to compile in a single list all the acronyms of this forum thread. This is quite an useful resource thread for us betting rookies!
