Las Vegas, what is the best area to stay in....?

I am going to Vegas for a while. Several weeks, maybe longer. I looked at hotels on hotwire, they have some great prices for 4 and 5 star hotels. What is the best area? Hot wire lists hotels in:
Central Strip
Strip East
Strip West
Strip South
Downtown
Henderson

i would stay in downtown if you plan to gamble.

suncoast and redrock are really nice and the odds are better than the strip
