Everyone on that entire list you can make an argument for being better than Hayward. And that list sucks anyways, it has Dwight Howard at #30 and DeAndre Jordan at #24. I'm guessing that list is for fantasy bball.

If he was black, people would be calling him a mini lebron and what a great all around player he is.

In a microcosm the contract seems bad but if you look it from a different perspective it can be a boon for whatever team he signs with in a max deal.

                  1. He's the best wing player available because of his age and capabilities (with Parson/Deng behind at this point). Most importantly he can play both ends of the floor, good passing ability, shoots the 3pt at a good clip and draw fouls at a steady rate with his drives.

                  2. People only looking at his FG% last year are only getting half the story. For most of the year Utah were playing John Lucas III at PG with Trey Burke injured. This was the first year that Hayward was tasked as a primary playmaker so almost every shot/drive he took was contested. On a team like the Cavs with Waiters/Iriving and even eventually Wiggins he'll improve his eFG% and probably go back to hitting the 3 at %39-40 clip like he did in previous seasons with Millsap/Jefferson. He'll be a great fit on either the Cavs/PHX or Utah.

                  3. People love to poo poo max contracts but when the CBA will be renegotiated in 2016-2017 this max deal will seem like a fuking bargain since player salaries are set to increase dramatically. Utah has to use the cap space available to hit a minimum salary floor this year so if you structure the contract in a way that's front loaded it's a GOOD contract for the production you get from him.

                  4. In a league with teams signing Jodie Meeks to 3 years 19mil and Ben Gordon activly sniffing a Roster his value shoots up even more as a 3pt shooter. These contracts will be the new reality as teams look to maximize player value under old CBA rules during the next lockout.

If the Cavs pay Hayward that kind of money, they would be doing so in hopes that he gets better. He's a young guy with a high ceiling, two or three years from now he could be a really good player and that contract might not look so bad.

And Kobe isn't even on the list. I take it that's because he didn't play last year.

Utah is expected to match the offer. I know it's Utah, and they're desperate because no free agents really want to go there, but still ...

I guess in the next 3 days we will know how stupid Utah is. ESPN report says Jazz intend to match any offer on Hayward.

I must be sniffing glue. When did Gordon Hayward become a MAX player? He hit 30% from 3 and 41% overall. Now the Hornets are giving him the MAX offer sheet. OMG!

24 years old, 6'8 SG , teams must still think he is an improving player. Last year per 36 avg 16 pts 5 rbs 5 assits. He did play great defense last year, which is obviously helping his value a-lot.

He definitely is. Isn't he pretty much the same player as Hayward....if not better. Just looking at their stats, they pretty much average the same amount of points, rebounds and assists. Only difference is Parsons shoots 47% FG and 37% 3pt, while Hayward only shoots 41% FG and 31% 3pt.
