It's hard to believe that the "I win" line is serious. WTF is that?If you are single and earn less than $25,000, or married and jointly earn less than $50,000, you will not owe any income tax. This is something that can't even begin to be discussed (starting with Trump, but on down to his supporters). We're either told (from him) "Trust me..it'll be great. People will get tired of all the wins" or "He's great at deals, he could make better deals".
Besides the legal frameworks for the deals that would have to be dismantled (or ignored), does a country with an economy in a supposed "soft" recovery really want to get into trade and tariff wars?Comment -

Do Americans really want to suddenly pay 10%, 20% or whatever amount more for their imported goods?
Do American exporters want their world turned upside down by a president who wants to break or re-negotiate agreements long term costing and loans are based on?

The counterfeit stuff is not a tax issue, that's customs and border protection. And I don't believe a cash strapped country like Japan has been in any position to negotiate a trade agreement overall favorable to them for a long time. So that cheap steel will only be coming in if a bunch of extra dollars are changing hands somewhere else to the US benefit.
I'm bloody sceptical about world free trade too, and the way it concentrates key industry sectors like steel making in emerging economies but rolling that back now is probably just not possible or even economically arguable.
I'd like to think the govt could find a legal way to claw back some of the profits but do we really want the govt telling us how to run our businesses? who to employ? where to locate? provide incentives maybe but punish with tax is anti business and probably anti-American.Last edited by Optional; 09-29-15, 08:26 AM..Comment -
