Texas Rangers to the WS discussion.
Okay this is the unofficial Ra77er ramble thread for the playoffs. I fully expect to get at least 2 other Ranger fans in here... maybe a few future ticket holders etc.

    We can do this!!

Now the starting rotation I am not sold on yet. I personally do not like Cole/Yu/Lewis/Martin setup. I would present this as an alternative for at least this first series.

    GM 1 Cole -Veteran
    GM 2 Lewis- Veteran
    GM3 Yu- IP man
    GM4 Martin- Knockout
    If you suvive...
GM 5 Cole -Good game hug it out

    Lets discuss the lineup.

Rangers have 3-4 players that can fill anything that is needed.

1 spot I think I open with Gomez at the 1 because of what he has done down the stretch but I wouldn't be opposed to seeing Odor/Deshields/ then Profar shuffled there based on matchups or performance.

2 spot Desmond and Mazara can both play, perhaps Choo but I prefer him hitting 5 or 6. I could be wrong but Mazara saw a dip in production after being shuffled down the lineup, I do not have the hard numbers but from watching the season it is what I noticed. I think he thrives near the top, he is also a patient hitter who can take a walk. The problem is he is so young!! I like Desmond in the two to start. I am nothing but pleased with that signing and Ian will get it done.

    3 spot
Beltre, not really much of a discussion for me, top 3 hitters get the most AB's per 9 innings and he is the guy that if the winning run is on 2nd, you can go smoke and know we have won. He is unreal good, I know you cannot measure clutch or whatever but this is the dude.

    4 spot
Beltran/Prince Fielder in spirit/Gallo/Moreland/call me weird but I think Gomez can hit here as well. We have guys that can hit cleanup period. Beltran and Moreland both experienced and if you don't know about Gallo our young guy...he can smash, also whiffs alot though

they are probably the most well-rounded team, but things often don't
go as planned on paper in MLB ....

      Continued.....

      5 spot
This is where we have a lot of options. I like Odor here over Moreland but I also like righty Rua here obviously based on matchups. Choo can hold this spot as can Elvis so it's gotta be interesting as a manager and is quietly pretty important imho. Right now I like Odor here.

6 spot If Choo plays RF then I bat Choo here, otherwise I put Mazara here.

7 spot Elvis, Moreland based on matchups.

8-9 spots Profar Odor Deshields Elvis

      Defensively

      Moreland 1B
      Odor 2B
      Elvis SS
      Beltre 3B
      Desmond CF
      Mazara RF
      Gomez LF
      Beltran DH

Depending on needs, Choo and Beltran can play RF. Profar and Alberto can play infield positions. I've seen Profar play all 4 this year. Alberto actually played 3b in the playoffs last year (Beltre injured). Deshields and Hoying (defensively) can man outfield and we have several that can rotate into the DH role. Plenty of options but I like the lineup I posted above to start.

Snowy I understand, I fully expect to win or lose with our dignity. People haven't even been hearing about the Rangers and we have a squad. Big Papi retiring, even year giant curse and the Cubs blowing the doors off everyone is overshadowing my team!!

The only problem I have with Texas is the bullpen.

Guys we have a serious closer....the hitman is not a joke. He has command and his fastballs have life. Matt Bush throws for 3 dollars Ive seen 101. We have serious issues with Kela and Diekman at times and Claudio occasionally worries me but can get it done. Scheppers, Jeffers, Bush, Dyson are strong arms.

This team has been fun to watch since the All Star break of last season. Hope they put together a run.
