Bill ready for governor's signature
The state Senate passed the sports betting bill today, sending the legislation to the governor for his signature and removing all hurdles to make the proposal law.
The Senate voted 17 - 2, after less than an hour of debate.
Sens. Thurman Adams, D-Bridgeville, and Gary Simpson, R-Milford, did not vote. Both are on the board of directors for the State Fair, which owns a majority share of Harrington Raceway and Casino.
Joe Rogalsky, spokesman for Gov. Jack Markell, said he didn't know when the bill would be signed into law.
