Was Lovie Smith not available? Herm Edwards is the single worst clock manager in NFL history. I know it's just a small part of the game, but it's telling if you cannot get it right. It means you're dumb and you've surrounded yourself with dumb people. Dumb coaches may "play to win the game" but it doesn't mean they'll get the job done.

it's an odd situation, it's almost like they're bracing for a "scandal"

the current AD is Herm's old agent (or something along those lines) so he brings him in to be a figurehead while keeping the entire rest of the coaching staff

I'll tune in to watch ASU run the Tampa 2 and the Bunp-n-Run, but I'm already looking for the ASU win total to come out for 2018. I might camp outside the book overnight.

Should at least get some better recruits no? Arizona State is a big enough name coupled with Herm Edwards to prob get a little more talent at least, how that pans out over the next few years is anyone's guess.

Herm in the same Division as USC, RichRod, and Chip Kelly. With a 2018 schedule that includes home games against Michigan State, Stanford, and UCLA, plus away games at San Diego State, Washington, Oregon, USC and Arizona, the cellar looks like the most likely landing place for this team in 2018.

Thank god guy is annoying on ESPN he wont last long college kids will tune him out and his preaching constantly will go in 1 ear and out the other. think hed be better in the NFL where he knows there all grown men making millions and dosent try and preach to them like he will these college kids.

So they pay a huge buyout to can the coach while keeping his entire staff on board and hire a guy who hasnt been in college football in almost 30 years....

Sounds like personal issues between coach and the AD or president.

A big win for Herm. For all we know he could’ve been a soon to be laid off espn mouth. Now he Gets paid better money to coach in year round golf weather as he eases into retirement.

Strange hire for asu. I don’t see this turning the program around anytime soon.

recruiting starts at about 15yo now, but i suspect he'll only be there a year so he won't be doing much of it
