Mega earnings this week. Probably another volatile week, what a shock I know.

Futures positive from the get-go. Looking for yet another strong open. I'd guess 7 out of the last 10 days have shown near 100 point gains at the open.

Looking at the beat up retailer GME. I have some less than $13.

I think, as a retailer, they will stick around and benefit from any surge in the video game industry.

There's a dividend to reinvest and for a value play looking to go out 5 or 10 years it may be a good individual play at these levels.

It's popped up on the radar again for me and I'm watching headlines and news looking to continue buying. I would expect them to get coverage at one point. I'm also looking into other info, some specifics of the stores, and I'll report back.

I don't see them going under like so many other retailers.

Earnings have been great so far, so the market volatility is not that.. Interest rates and tariffs are a worry to many....

With so much instability in the WH, look for continued instability in the markets going forward....jmo..

Typical late stage bull market. Everyone waiting for the shoe to drop amidst great data. One comment from CAT sends us into a tail spin.

And there is the 10yr treasury hitting 3% today as well..... that’s a pretty big deal.

Nothing overreacts like the stock market. 3 percent yield on the 10-year note is non-news. The economy is in decent shape and companies are making money hand over fist; that's all you need to know — unless the president does something stupid.

i am wondering the same and am frustrated. all i keep thinking is the prior concerns that weighed on the market plus the new ones regarding chip makers and demand being down. overall just a very spooked market that like you said is in the late stages of the bull run and is reacting negatively to every sneeze

Has anyone gone back to look at the history of 10-year Treasury yields? If you do, you'll have to ask yourself what the big deal is over 3 percent.

Underneath that is all the monetary stimulus that has been put into the system by global central banks to prop up the global economy after the financial crisis.

sellers must be justifying it in their minds because we have monster earnings coming out by mega companies and we are still going down. it's starting to feel that there is something systemic that is underlying and while it might be not be the crash of 87 or the dot.com bubble burst or the financial crisis of 08, there is something under the surface that is stopping the market from establishing new highs and we need to figure out what it is. maybe it's a myriad of factors but one thing we can see is that the market is worried about something

we have many landmines next week with the tariff deadline of 5/1 and the fed meeting again so i am wondering if i will exit tomorrow or monday or try to see it through next week. too many big co's still have earnings to report over the next 3 weeks so i am not certain what i will do.

The problem for the foreseeable future is that a lot of these HUGE earnings beats have been priced in at the end of 2017. We need the geo-political landscape to show us some clarity and then we can start essentially betting on 2019 projections. Until the market is given more of a positive outlook regarding trade deals, I don't see us doing much but treading water.

Right, and we also need CEO's and the like to not use the phrase "peak earnings" because too many folks get spooked in thinking we are already at the top so they start the selloffs. Just look at the CAT earnings call and what it caused. they kill the number then the stock gets buried. Peak earnings should not be in the vocabulary of any CEO right now, or really ever

if certainly feels that way. reaching CEO level means a person is not a dummy by any stretch. they have to know what saying certain things is going to do to their stock. crony capitalism in the wall street sense of having a stock dump only to rebuy at lower levels?? me thinks Yes

I often wondered about this with FB. Up until this quarter it seemed like Zuckerberg was always downplaying positive news during the call. He would often warn of costs increasing the next quarter. Don't know if this was to protect against lawsuits in the future or pure manipulation.

The U.S. economy slowed to a moderate 2.3% annual growth rate in the first quarter..What's more concerning is that the consumer spending turned in the weakiest performance in nearly 5 years.....Many reports are saying Trumps tax cuts are not reaching the crowd that spends money. No surprise their...
