#2cant wait for this to be over, everytime i look at canadas standings makes me angry , 45 points what a jokeComment -
#3I wish I didnt miss the first 25 tournaments. Now I will need a win most likely just to get in.Comment -

#5from what the Canadians tell me, a lot of benefits have been taken away over the years so the player pool is a lot lower now. That said, if there's a next time, Canada should be part of Team World.Comment -

#11Thanks for the update Sam! Looks like the cutoffs I alluded to last week of US: 2250, Confeds: 1800, World: 1500 are likely to be pretty close. Assuming that's true, AutoDonk and Bobbywaves probably do have the option to tank/try depending on which team they prefer to make. Problem is: with both of them trying to avoid the other, if they both decide to try they might both make it to US or if they both tank, both likely to fall to Confeds! Tricky situation no doubt...
Probably the best thing for them to do is to make an agreement between themselves for say Donk to try (since he's the one ahead right now) and for Waves to tank, that's almost certainly the best way for them to avoid each other which is their common goal. But will they both be willing to essentially make a deal with the devil to achieve their shared goal? We shall see!
A general query: when does a person have to turn pro to be able to compete in the Finals? I know two people who are currently slated for Team Canada are currently non-pro. And not sure if anyone else on the other teams might be so also. But especially with Canada, this is quite relevant - if those guys don't turn pro, is Canada just not going to have a full team (I assume there is no one pro there who happens to have <45 points)?
Probably a few people (I might be one of them) might try to set lines/take bets on which team will win and so forth as has been done in prior years. And if Canada potentially doesn't even have a full team, that would obviously affect things greatly! So a rather pertinent question.Last edited by ArunSh; 07-24-18, 01:17 PM.Comment -
#12Make USA or stay on confeds is the only question now

#14What if I drink 100 Canadian beers in the next 7 days...would that qualify me for temporary residency?Comment -
#15
Agreed. That's kind of why I was asking. Both sinmiedo and jayvegas420 I believe are non-pro but still have time (I think!) to turn pro before the Finals. Will they do so? No idea, and if they plan to when is the deadline? Again if I or anyone else is going to set betting lines for the Finals that's a rather salient point - if one of the teams potentially doesn't have a full team because one or two of their slated members isn't pro. So would be nice if that could be clarified: what again is the deadline for them to turn pro to be eligible for Finals?Comment -

#20Frizzeli disappeared a year or two ago owing me thousands of points on a loan. Somehow I doubt he'll be randomly showing up to play in the World Cup!
To be clear: I don't think he intended to stiff me, probably just had to leave the forum for whatever reason which made him unable to pay it back. That said, while probably no ill intention, he did take those points and never paid them back which is at the end of the day a stiff jobComment -
#21Sam told me that the players will have to become pro before Finals play to be eligible to compete - no surprise there obviously. Just curious what will happen if say a day or two before they still have not become pro - will their spot shift over then or will it have them no-show on first day etc. No clue. Again, this could really impact the Finals, one team potentially not showing in 2 of the 12 tourneys every day has a huge impact on the overall event without question.Comment -

Ahh interesting, didn't know that, just assumed he was gone.
As I said, he paid back three previous loans he had with me with no issue so I don't think he intended not to pay this one back, probably just things went awry. I don't think it was a case where he went to the casino/sportsbook and blew them all then decided to never return (as a few others have done over the years), probably just other more important things drew him away from the site. Ahh well, is what it is, am certainly not the first person who had a loan go sour (and not the first one for me either!).Comment -

#30You can’t be talking about Sourtwist, since you said one of the top 3 players on this site.Comment -
#31Is there anyway to tell how many points in this contest? I have no idea how close I am. I quit playing for damn near a month but was pretty far up on the charts before that. I can't remember where I am at. Would just like to know sooner than later. If I can't make a team it is more than worthless to play these tournaments with these payouts.Comment -
#32if canada wasnt on world cup poker i wouldnt even play poker at all anymore/ almost consider not going PRO
this is basically the only thing Canadians have to look forward to , swap us the US sbr store and well give you 12 man cutoff for 1 poker tournament a year , just my thoughtsComment -

on 7-9 when sam posted the full standings this is where u stood so take those points and whatever cashes u have had since then and that is ur total, likely u will need a few wins in the last few days to have a chance
