Both Khabib and the UFC are trying to push the "Khabib is russian" angle.

Neither Putin, nor russians might accept this though as Khabib is chechen in ethnicity. Khabib's home country of dagestan is also kind of sort of at war with russia right now which complicates things.

And so these politics could define part of the reason why Vladimir Putin chose to meet with Conor rather than Khabib.

But TBH I'm a lowly american. I couldn't tell you where dagestan is on a map or what ethnicity chechen is, so think twice before believing anything I say.

For those who don't know, dagestan is occupied by russian forces. Perhaps similar to crimea. There is a rebellion against russian forces in the country comprised mainly of islamic extremists. There are cases where russian forces abduct and interrogate random dagestanis off the street. And afaik sometimes those who are abducted are never seen or heard from again.

There is something like a silent war being waged in the country. So like I said, even without considering Khabib's chechen ethnicity there is a chance he won't be embraced by russia or russians in general. Dagestan and russia are kind of, sort of, @ war. Like crimea and russia.

AFAIK none of the people that post here or lurk know anything about this. I'm the only one who has even a little info on this topic. So you'll have to settle for what you can get.

That meeting don't mean much. They shook hands and took a picture. Thats it. Wasn't a special invite. Was the WC final many VIPs met with Putin that day.

2 minutes into the presser video and my gut feeling says Khabib will win.

Khabib was calm and confident. Conor on the other hand as usual was trash talking but something was off in contrast to all the other pressers.
He was scared and raged at the same time. Looked like a drunk coked up Irish joker in his purple suit.

If I do bet it might be on Khabib. I never drink, smoke, do drugs, etc.

I like Khabib's thought process on that a lot more than I like Conor's.

If Conor doesn't sound as smart as he used to, drugs and substance abuse could play a factor in that.

Think people are overlooking Conor comments. Conor wants to piss the kid off enough to get him to stand with him and make a mistake.

Can call it crazy but aldo (one of the most calm guys ever) was heated coming into the fight and dead sprinted to trade shots in middle of the ring and got caught. Connor will say anythjng to get kabob not to dive at his ankles entire fight.

Kabob lost composure toward the end. Comments were getting under his skin.

Yesterday's presser was pretty status quo for Conor. Same usual antics, only thing different was he was plugging the shit out of his new whiskey... nice fukk you move to do it on the UFC's time.

And don't fool yourselves, Khabib looked rattled, especially when he had that nervous smile/laugh going... reminded me very much of Eddie Alvarez at 205. Nate Diaz is still the only dude to not be phased by Conor's antics/trash talk.

I think he was a bit moved but i think he is in Conors head a bit cause Conor can’t stand this guy. Conor hatred of this guy is on par with Aldo’s hatred of Conor when they fought.
