#23 more years of choking.

#3Wow that's a lot for a guy that is clearly not what he once was.
But they had to keep him and makes sense to overpay for a 3 year deal than to give him a longer contract.Comment -
#4So 2/70 became 3/93? Interesting. Kershaw added 1/23? Seems kinda dumb from his standpoint.Comment -

#8kind of surprising he didn't go for a longer deal with more money like 6 and 150 million he will have trouble getting a big contract in 3 yearsComment -
#9Might have had trouble trying to get 5 or 6 years now. Gm have to be crazy considering how much his velo declined recently. 3 years kinda a stretch, no way he earning that money the 3rd year, hell they be lucky to get 2 years of 200 quality innings out his fragile ass!!Comment -
#103 more added years? So that’s 5 years total - he’s still a good regular season pitcherComment -
-
#12He already had 2 on his deal. Dodgers gave him an extra 1/28mill essentially. It's a steal for the Dodgers. Even with the clear decline and struggles Kershaw could have destroyed the open market. If he learns to adjust to his declining velocity he will once again be the undisputed GOAT. Solid guy for staying in LA.Comment -

Jake ARrieta got 3/75 last year on the market and he's trash. Even though Kershaw is not what he used to be he's still one of the top pitchers in this league.Comment -

I read that it was 70 for the next 2. But even if it was 65, that would make the extension year at 28, which I do know is not more than 30.
If in fact the extra year added 31 to the contract, then yeah, that's different. 31 is a lot different from 23.Comment -
#15Seriously? So if he hit the open market 2 seasons from now, you think he'd get less than 23 million total??? Or just less than 23 aav? With contract inflation and the like, he'd have to decline pretty bad to not get that.Comment -

#17It's not that Kershaw isn't great, it's that the '18 Red Sox can hit any pitcher that ever played.Comment -
#18I guess it was 2/65 that he had left, so he did add the one year for 28. Not as bad as I thought at 23, but still surprised he took that. 3 seasons from now entering 2022 he'll be washed up at 34, if he isn't before.Comment -

#23Clayton is terrified of the Dodgers winning it when he leaves. Probably smacking him around in the playoffs at some point. He weaseled another 20+ mil out of them so good for him, hate the game not the playerComment -
#24Let's go Kershaw. Guaranteed wins for 2019.Comment -
#25They should put a fineprint in the contract that half the money would be returned to the Dodgers if he chokes in playoffs.Comment -
#26wow waste of money

#28You think he really wants some other fan base pissed off he can’t get it done when it counts? Doyers faithful seem to give him a pass, somewhere else signs him to huge deal and he comes up small I doubt the fans be as forgiving!!Comment -
#29Clayton Kershaw made more money in the time it took to write this sentence than the entire faculty at my son's middle school makes in a year.Comment -

#31Dodgers can only go down not up
Terrible move
Just a nameComment -
#32Lost a lot of velocity on his fastball. Has never been good in the playoffs. Overall a bad move.Comment -
#33He will make about 1 million USD everytime he makes a start. give or take
about 192K per inning. give or take
13,000 every time he throws a pitch. give or takeLast edited by DwightShrute; 11-02-18, 10:20 PM.Comment -

#35In baseball everything it relative though. If they are willing to spend the money it does not matter. Its unlikely ot prevents them from signing another player.Comment
