#37For the record I tried solely cellular as well as wifi at several locations and it still didnt work.
I tried both Android and iOS, and they were adamant that I was using a spoofer on
I emailed GeoComply, and am waiting to hear from them. Overall just a bad experienceComment -
#38Spoofers don’t even workComment -
#39Sounds like GeoComply need to get their act together.
Over-promising what can be done to books no doubt..Comment -
#40Shocked it cannot be fixed
NJ so many dummiesComment -
#41I’ve been inside mgm in Vegas and have had the mgm app tell me
My location isn’t in the stateComment -
#42Mistakes occur. When did sports betting open in N.J.?
Better than the old take a picture with your ID and utility bill days
Coach check this out. -105 lines on the super bowl. You remember. The thing you said would never occur
Comment -
#43This is crazy. Why don't they just do it like a Driver's License. Get your verification that you live in the state upfront, then issue the license (i.e. account). Then just like a drivers license once you have established your residence, any where you place a bet from will still be considered doing business in your home state.
Why all the CSI bullshit?Comment -
#44It’s another disaster right now in New Jersey there’s some good of course but they are far from perfectComment -
#45How many of you guys with this issue received a permanent ban though???Comment -

Here is what it says in the proposed legislation to be enacted;
A sports pool operator shall investigate each patron complaint and provide aresponse to the patron within five calendar days. For complaints that cannot be resolved tothe satisfaction of the patron{,} and which are related to patron accounts, settlement ofwagers, and/or illegal activity, a copy of the complaint and licensee’s response, including allrelevant documentation, shall be provided to the Division or New Jersey Racing Commission, as applicable.
You should ask the NJ Division of Gaming Enforcement to look at your problem https://www.nj.gov/lps/ge/index.html.Comment -
#47I appreciate that link.
I will be emailing a complaint.Comment -

Stars support is just plain awful so I've given up on them. I can't bet seriously with them. I think you have to tweet at them. It's ridiculous, no chat or phone numberComment -
#49I've in NJ and have used three apps so far.. DraftKings (primary), FanDuel (was secondary, haven't used in a long time), and SugarHouse when they opened for the promo.
All three give location errors all the time, though they usually correct themselves on the next try or two. I'm very often on Wi-Fi, too, which they recommend for better tracking.
As a side note, when betting with DK, it's strange how many times I try and place a bet only to get a "communication error" message, and MANY times it's happened when I needed it placed that second for a live bet. Yes, sometimes it happens randomly, but it's almost more-than-a-coincidence how it just so happens to pop up at a very good opportunity.
And I think someone asked about this, but with DK I can open the app at work (in PA) and view lines, my bets, etc etc and I *think* can deposit/withdraw, just no betting allowed.
Betstars app is so busy too . It's like a bingo machine interface. I tried, they won't help and when I'm trying to get a big bet in I don't have time to penetrating tweet stars support because they have no phone or chat.Comment -
#50
It's no big, I have a million legal and offshore outs. It's just betstars that gives me the problem. The DFS and sugarhouse, parx are fine.Comment -
#51Im south jersey, 3 minutes from the ben franklin bridgeComment -

Then betstars says "Oh we don't have phone or chat, you can tweet us"

#56Ya I have Comcast business class internet. I missed out on betting a ton during the championship games at my friends who lives in Hamilton, which is nowhere near PA. Again, I used verizon note 9 data, then I tried his wifi. I was pissed. Lost a lot to in game betting.
Then betstars says "Oh we don't have phone or chat, you can tweet us"

Betstars bought out my #1 Aussie book a few months back.
Odds used to be best among locals, now its close to the worst.
Customer Support used to be amazing, not sure how they ruined that so fast, but must have changed to their Canadian support people, who are rude and clueless.
And the "promotions" they offer now are lame $25 things that are clearly designed to take the 25 bucks from bettors a lot of the time. It's like they don't get the point of those sort of promos. Well the point I thought they had. To get/keep people betting, not make another 25 bucks for the book
Betstars are up there with PaddyPower/Betfair as the worst of the majors coming to the USA right now IMHO.
I see people complaining about William Hill operating local books in USA.
I'd take them 10 times out of 10 over Betstars operated books..Comment -

When I moved to NJ I was thinking legal betting was cool, as I would have rescourse in case of a problem. So far it's been fine with SH, borgata, MGM, etc.
Sites like BOL, 5Dimes, heritage etc are so reputable with better odds I'm not worried. I still play them constantly.
All the "legal" sites geo location works just fine.
It's so sad how once Amaya bough stars everything went to shit. Stars used to be the untouchable Dons of online poker. They always sided on the right side, with the players, against the cheaters. Then they sold, fugged supernova players and everything tanked from there. (duh)
Once a company goes from private to public guess what? They have a responsiblity to who? SHAREHOLDERS
I'm not worried, I have a million outs. Sucks they fucged one of your outs though.Last edited by thechaoz; 02-01-19, 12:27 AM.Comment -
#59I have been permanently banned from FanDuel Sportsbook online because they claim I used a location spoofer.
I have literally only placed one bet, and they agreed to pay me my balance out via check, but I think its ridiculous.
I live in CT. You must be in NJ to play. It is only a 45 minute drive for me.
On Friday Jan 25th I drove down to Montvale, and tried to place a wager. I was never able to, as the entire time I kept getting "location error". After hours of troubleshooting with support, they informed me that I had a spoofer on my phone, and that once it was removed, I could bet. I literally factory wiped my phone and still could not place a bet. I decided to just drive back home.
Fast forward to Sunday the 27th. I drove to the same exact place in Montvale. App worked, no issues, and I won my first and only bet.
Now today Tuesday 1/29, I go back to Montvale. Same area, same issue. This time I had my iPad as well and neither device is able to avoid the "location error". After troubleshooting w customer service they inform me that I am banned for using a spoofer. They claim that it was used over 50 times from my device and that my account is permanently banned.
I have never knowingly had any sort of mock location all as they claim, and I'm kind of ticked off by this. I have a vehicle tracker that would show I was in New Jersey and my cellphone GPS would prove my story (if that info was accessible).
Not the end of the world because the Meadowlands is only another 30 minutes, but I think this is bullshit.Comment -

#61everyone needs to check themselves here....jersey been in business for less than a year....of course gonna be some hiccups. The future is bright. Offshore = decades in the business and marginal operations overall at bestComment -
#62Couldn’t agree more sweep. Also gotta thing there’s more to the story here. Before moving to Jersey I’d literally stop over at the victor pub in Camden where I could almost see my house and have no issues at all. Maybe a return deposit here or somethingComment -

#64Okay...read the thread. In the past, even with fantasy sports, I got warning or blocked if I was in New Jersey towns like Montvale because geographically, you're right next to towns like Pearl River and Nanuet and the GPS of the sportsbook cant pinpoint your exact location. Obviously, I'm not an expert, but if you make a drive like that, drive about 5 minutes into NJ to towns such as Park Ridge or Woodcliff Lake and from my experience, I had no issues.. I have to add, this is my fantasy league experience. But now that you can bet more than ever before..I am surprised that you were given such a tough time.Last edited by will2survive; 02-01-19, 11:19 AM.Comment -
#65Just over the George Washington Bridge seems to be a golden spot.
NYPost just did a story of many that constantly drive or bike just over the bridge to place bets. Maybe the body of water separation comes into play.
As an aside, geocomply is supposed to block you if it detects any vpn or remote software in your device. FYI Opera browser has built-in VPN.
I have a couple of general(Vegas & NJ) ideas re settings toggles that may help in Android. Firstly BEFORE betting, ensure your phone is fairly highly charged- say 3/4 full, to prevent low power interfering with #3. Secondly, go into Settings/General/Apps and click the casino app and delete Data & Cache(this will remove user id & pw, force you to re-login). Thirdly, toggle Data Off/On and reboot phone.
1. Ensure Android & Opera VPNs set to off.
2. Remove any VPN & Remote Software apps.
3. Location has different settings under-
a. Mode: High Accuracy, Battery Saving / Data Networks Only, Device Sensors Only....And:
b. Way in the bottom of Location On/Off screen, scroll below all the different apps that use location...it's called Location Services / Qualcomm or Izat or Low Power Location Estimation.
Basically complete, high-power, full-on Location uses your IP, cellular network, gps sensors, wifi and Bluetooth.
So....you want to toggle between:
c. Location On High Accuracy and Izat On. AND in Settings turn on Wifi & Bluetooth plus while in there check that VPN is off.
d. Location On with GPS sensors ONLY, with EVERYTHING else OFF: low power, battery saving, izat, estimation...everything. AND ensure under Settings, that Wifi(AND wifi calling) is OFF, ditto for Bluetooth.
Supposedly, some apps need the wifi on, others get troubled by it.
In between these two toggles you'll need to log out, delete the betting app data/cache and reboot phone.
4. Before opening betting app, open Google Maps and ensure it's tracking your location correctly.Comment -
#66another scammer,can't make this stuff upComment -
#67I know when I go to Laughlin, NV for March Madness, the William Hill app won't work there because they think I am in I think Arizona. Doesn't work until I'm about 30-45 minutes from the border. It's funny, they have a william hill sportsbook in laughlin, and they let me credit the app, but failed to tell me I couldn't use the app there. William Hill was at the Pioneer Casino. Me and my people reserve a table at the Golden Nugget next door. I just run over and chill during a good live betting game to put my bets in on the app.Comment
