I was a believer in Archer when he was in Div 2 playing for the Rays but since he moved over not as impressed.

just watching this one, as mentioned Archer and Wainright are not quite well known commodities right now.
Archer with 2.70 ERA with 23 hits allowed and 36 K's in 30 innings pitched in Sept, so i'm looking to see if he continues to start trending back towards the #1, #2 type of pitcher he used to be.Comment -

Having Fowler in a spot that should have lot of rbi opportunities is not good. Having him in the lineup at all is stupid, we have 2 better options but payroll politics are dictating cards decision here. It pretty damn obvious, I mean yesterday when Martinez played right they put him in the 3 hole, how can you justify starting Fowler over him when you hit Fowler in the 6 spot? Makes no sense.
End of day pitching our strength, milw and cubs have better lineups but our pitching should be superior. Only problem is we only have one lefty on the roster! And it Miller, our track record of free agent relievers is awful and thus far he has sucked!
Another thing I don’t like is our lineup construction. Wong at 7th today is a little better, when they hit him in the 8 hole it makes it incredibly easy for opposing managers pen desicions late in the game having our only 2 lefty bats in the 8 and 1 spots so they can bring in a lefty and leave him in for those 2 guys. I like they now have Bader in the 8 hole cause he has smoked left handed pitching early in his career (terrible vs righties). So that at least forces a lefty out the pen to see bader then a pitch hitter of which we have pretty strong right handed bats off the bench. Ultimately i think Wong in for a big year and should probably be hitting further up in the order but since for some redic reason carpenter is only productive as the leadoff man (craziest thing I’ve ever seen!). We be much better served if carpenter could produce same numbers in the 3 hole!! I Think Wong, goldy, carpenter would be ideal as 1-2-3. That would lengthen our lineup cause then you keep Ozuna 4th, move dejong to 5th where I think his game more suited for, yadi 6th, if i had it my way Fowler wouldn’t be in lineup and it be Martinez/O’Neal 5th or 6th (Martinez and dejong can be in either spot, if it O’Neal id have him 7th), bader in the 8 hole. Imo that would make this lineup more productive but it will never happen since carpenter’s production falls off a cliff if he hits anywhere but leadoff!! Since that the case I dunno, if Wong can’t lead off it makes sense putting him closer to the bottom so he gets on base for top of order but I think his production gonna be that of a guy you want higher up in the order (getting more ab’s).
It early but The amount of strikeouts in this lineup worries me a ton! If you go back to end of game 3 cards made 12 outs in a row via strikeout! Last 3 outs in 9th and next 9 outs to start Sunday’s game! I know everyone’s philosophy has moved into this dumb ass thought process that a strikeout is no different than making contact and getting out but it ridiculous!!! Good things happen when you put the ball in play, nothin good happens when you swing at air!!!!Comment -

The mistake isn’t the problem, it happens. It the stubbornness not to just admit it and move off this bum! They have 2 better options that not making shit, use one of them!! The problem there I suppose is it would weaken our bench cause the minute they pull their heads out their asses and replace Fowler in the lineup they will have to cut him cause he a pouting cancer who will give them nothing off the bench, there no doubt about that.,
Lousy Mfer actually gets a hit then gets thrown out trying to steal. It was a terrible call, he was clearly safe but that really doesn’t matter. Why in God’s name would you even try to steal when your team down 3-4 runs? You can’t make a out in that situation!!Comment -
Think he only 36-37ish. I hated when I heard they were bringing him back on a team friendly contract. Has nothing to do with the money, the problem is when he here it doesn’t matter how awful he is, as long as he telling them he good to go they will continue letting him start. He basically runs these mf’ers. After every garbage start he comes up w some nonsense excuse and insist he has it figured out. Nobody in the organization has the balls to stand up to him.Comment -

Always amazes me how beautiful of setting for baseball, PNC park is
its a shame that high quality park usually gets a minor league quality team.
Looks like, Archer did pretty well. I'll watch back later and check in on fangraphs. Gotta keep an eye on Williams, Taillon, Archer, Musgrove. I don't htink the market or general public will give them much respect for awhile.
