100k if Blues win The Cup
The only reason Scott Berry was in Las Vegas back in January was to operate a booth at a sales conference. A casual gambler, he likes blackjack and craps but hadn't gotten a chance to hit the tables on this work trip. But before his trip to McCarran International Airport to head home, the St. Louis native made a few fateful futures bets on his favorite teams --- $400 on the St. Louis Blues to win the Stanley Cup at 250-1 and $100 on the St. Louis Cardinals to win the World Series at 15-1 -- at the Caesars sportsbook at Paris Las Vegas.
    Editor's Picks

Four months later, his Blues bet -- which would win $100,000 -- has a legitimate chance to cash as St. Louis heads into Game 6 of the Western Conference finals with a 3-2 series lead over the San Jose Sharks.

Nice. I got a couple friends that started hitting blues futures after the coaching change. Don’t think any have that much at stake but I know one of them has a pretty nice payout coming, think he plans on hedging in finals.

Read that full article earlier. It is going to take an awfully lot, if anything, for him to sell that ticket. Die hard homer.

Hopefully he will hedge his bet so he can have a nice payout either way.

I'd hedge and lock in 50,000. Imagine being a diehard Blues fan, and not only watching them lose the Stanley Cup, but also losing 100,000. No, you take 50,000 and enjoy the series either way.

I'm sure this guy will hedge. If he's working sales booths in vegas, he ain't making much so a bet like this would mean a lot

                          They have a good shot

Boston and Blues were impressive to the finals

Reminds me of a couple people who bet on the Cards to win the World Series a few years back when they were out of it in late August.

Hometown hero David Freese should have gotten a lifelong contract after that insanity.

And have the best record in the NHL since that bottoming out point, that's how they got to 250-1.

It's not played on paper, but Bruins deserve to be the solid series favorite. Have to see if Blues can shake their gag pedigree. So far so good.

Every sports season I like to put a few bucks on my favorite teams, regardless of how good or bad they are likely to be, but $400 when my team is one of the worst in the league at that point? That guy has nads.

On Jan 3 the Blues were bottom of the league, 11 points behind Anaheim for the last playoff spot. They're crazy turn around coincided with goalie Jordan Binnington being called up 2 days later.

I got them at 66-1 with one and 62-1 with another. Getting 250-1 is incredible.

I’d hedge 20,000. This way you can still root for Blues but walk out green either way.

I bet them at 100-1 in January in biloxi after they won a few games. I felt like that was good value besides the fact I'm a die hard.
I told myself all they had to do was sneak into the playoffs and anything could happen.

The article says he shopped around to get the 250-1, the first place he went they were only 100 or 150. I might have been able to get better than 100-1 for my ticket if I looked online but I don't bet futures online (not having my $ tied up for months on an offshore site)
