My thread is about laying horses, only my goal is to make bets with extremely low exposure and risk, i.e. bet on horses who are "guaranteed" not to win the race. For that I risk a lot (€6,000) for small gains in return (e.g. €10-€20). The difference between this and say rolling the dice 100 times is that horse racing is a real competition, not something computerized - so if you do it "right" all the times - you should potentially be in profit - however it does require lots of patience and bets must be placed only when you are 100% comfortable to place them.
I made a similar post in the past about laying horses with extremely high prices - I tested this strategy over the past few years, it does seem to work but I'd say the BetFair market "knows" better which horses are performing extremely bad and which ones are worth taking a shot. I've seen horses that get 150 to 1 who have 100 to 1 in BetFair and won the race, and horses with 50 to 1 offered by bookmakers but getting 400 to 1 in BetFair - which in this case is an indication it's worth laying them taking all other factors into account (especially the length of the race).
Please note laying dogs in Australia with high prices is very risky, there are many more dogs winning races because of the short length of the race (especially 300m) - if you want to lay dogs with 100 to 1 - ensure the race is at least 700m, this way the factors building the odds are properly "taken" into account when the race takes place.
