Here's part of the Atlantic City story:

"Ever hear the expression "No shame in my game?, well that is the epitome of JJ's philosophy. He lets it all hang out, and I?m not just talking about his belly. He says what he wants, when he wants, to whomever he wants too. A couple of older women sat next to us on the table, JJ immediately began flirting with me?, and talk about a natural bullshitter. He was telling these broads he was a Producer for Phillip Blunt.... the hottest young rapper out there, told him he had his own plane, limo, etc, and then after he had noticeably impressed these women he told one to pull his finger which she obliged only to hear the loudest fart I have ever heard, JJ was laughing his nards off, saying I gotcha, I gotcha (in the same way he said "I told you so?) talk about annoying."

JJ said that he's done his work here and now it's time for the rest of the guys to carry the load. I did start a new forum for him.

I was fine with Gold posting but I didnt like when he would post in every thread. You couldnt tell which one got a real response or if Gold just decided to post in threads from page 5.

From the ABB meets JJGOld in Atlantic City at toutfreezone. Here's an excerpt :

"We do shit like that all of the time for giggles. Head slaps, Pecker Grabs, Pully fingers, tooth pasting when someone falls asleep. Don't wear sweat pants around us either, because we will pull them down in a heart beat and hit the ground laughing for five minutes."

What jj's influence has done is make SBR basically like every other forum out there. The emphasis is on quantity over quality. It is much more friendly to people whose focus is posting forums than people whose focus is betting and making money.

If SBR wants to continue in this direction, then you just need to encourage people to act like jj. Maybe give away weekly awards to the poster who makes the most posts or starts threads that generate the most replies. That would encourage people to be less selective about what they post and to lean more towards controversial stuff than boring old solid information. Like jj, people who didn't know something about a subject would be encouraged to make something up. It would encourage posters to use multiple identities which would also pump up the numbers.

If, on the other hand, SBR wants a more quality, bettor-oriented forum, then there is a lot of damage to be undone. No doubt it would be a long-term project and patience would be required.

I really don't know which model is better from a business perspective. When I have checked the forum lately, I see it being dominated by people who are already on many other forums. While they are creating site traffic, it's hard to imagine it being much good to advertisers; these posters are already as influenced by these advertisers as they are going to be. However maybe advertisers aren't able to analyze things that much and they just see numbers of threads/posts. I really don't know how that all fits together.

Posting forums aren't my business so I don't know what is best. The market for a top-quality industry forum with less tolerance for rudeness and shenanigans seems to be wide open, however maybe it's too tiny a market to be worth shooting for. I don't know.

turns out we did monthly awards...
