    Mark Dantonio stepping down
After a storied 13 seasons as head coach of the Michigan State football program, Mark Dantonio announced his decision to retire on Tuesday, Feb. 4. Dantonio finishes his career with a record of 114-57 in East Lansing, 132-74 in 16 seasons overall. During his time at the helm of the Spartan program, Dantonio compiled an impressive list of accomplishments including three Big Ten Championships, two victories in the Big Ten Championship Game, victories in the 2014 Rose Bowl and the 2015 Cotton Bowl, and an appearance in the 2015 College Football Playoff, finishing his career as the winningest football coach in Michigan State history.
Mike Tressel will serve as acting head coach while a search is conducted to find Dantonio’s replacement.

A United States district judge has dismissed the lawsuit ex-Michigan State staffer Curtis Blackwell filed against retired head coach Mark Dantonio, athletic director Mark Hollis and president Lou Anna Simon, according to a report.

The Detroit Free Press reported on Wednesday that U.S. District Judge Janet Neff dismissed Blackwell’s claims that he was wrongfully terminated for declining to speak to detectives during an alleged sexual assault investigation in 2017 that involved former Spartans football players.

Per the report, Blackwell’s claim of wrongful arrest by two Michigan State University police officers has not been dismissed. He will have until June 5 to find an attorney to represent him in that case.

Blackwell was a staffer for Michigan State from 2013 through May 2017. That year, Dantonio informed Blackwell that his contract would not be renewed and that it would expire, forcing Blackwell out of his position.

Wasn’t terminated, his contract was over with. I’m assuming he’s black? Surprised the race card wasn’t used also.
