    -disciplined bankroll management

    -sensible bet sizing (Kelly etc)

    -don’t bet bad numbers (multiple outs)

    Those are 3 that if you master, you have a good chance of only losing minimal amounts of money (cheap hobby)

            Your goal is to "only losing minimal amount?" You're kidding right.....

            We are here to win money, not to only lose a minimal amount.

            If you only want to lose, then you don't even need to follow these 3 rules, just bet what ever the penetrate you want. If you actually want to try and win money for a change then pick up a book

              A book may help you on some basic betting principles and line reading. No book will help you win long term.

                  I was being facetious, making a joke, my point was even when you are disciplined and follow good principles, winning at betting is REALLY hard. I was trying to wink wink. Oh well.

                    Like several others in this thread, I can recommend "Sharper". I am reading it now;
                    heavy emphasis of the mathematical nuances of betting. But the math is not difficult,
                    and handicapping theory is also covered and explained clearly.

                          There are several and someone did mention Ed Miller’s The Logic of Sports Betting as a good starting point. Some of it is super basic but you should pick up some useful info and might learn why you haven’t been winning as much as you should be.

                          Reading is never a bad thing.
