They are canceling events in the middle of July.

I doubt anything starts before August 1 at the earliest.

Correct, I think PPD label is used for events recheduled (or expected to reschedule) during calendar year 2020.

OR think of "League" as Tokyo Olympics 2020

            MLB in May?

Tuesday, April 7: ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported that MLB is working on a plan that could have the season started as early as May, which would involve every team playing in Arizona in stadiums with no fans. Team personnel would live in “relative isolation” in Arizona hotels and be tested frequently, according to the report.

While such an extreme proposition would usually not get the support of players, Passan mentioned that the union might be swayed by 1) players actually getting paid their salaries (something that’s not happening right now with games suspended) and 2) the potential for expanded rosters “to account for the possibility of players testing positive despite the isolation, as well as to counteract the heat in Phoenix, which could grow problematic during the summer.”

MLB would have to play games basically around the clock using only Arizona stadiums.

Why? 10 Cactus League Stadiums + Chase Field, so for full 15 game slate, only 4 doubleheaders required.

The MLB idea is the dumbest thing I've heard in a while

If you can't play in teams home stadiums, YOU CAN'T PLAY

What difference does that make, if playing all games in Arizona for a while ensures earlier resumption, that would be a GOOD thing.

Throw in Phoenix Municipal also. Former A’s/Current Sun Devils. Would be fine to just get games rolling on the calendar. Baseball really heats up later in the year anyway.

All 30 MLB teams playing double headers in 115 degree weather with players sitting in the stands.

NBA basically said June 1 the earliest and that is a stretch

                                NBA will finish early October

MLB has to do it....the only good thing about the 162 game schedule is the broadcasting rights and ad revenue for their affiliates and partners.

This is nothing more than a tv money grab and they'll play from 10am for east coast teams to 8 pm for west coast teams to catch up on the schedule.

Also consider they'd be exclusive sport for awhile might introduce a younger fan base...

I like idea and think MLB should have done it sooner

No, not true doubleheaders in the traditional sense. The 4 doubleheaders I alluded to would be 2 separate matchups (so 4 teams). And if there is a 12th stadium available as someone mentioned, then only 3 doubleheaders would be required for a full schedule.

As for the heat, all games outside of Chase Field would be at night (unless there is another stadium with a roof, then they could have day games too). And also note the part about expanded rosters, so teams have depth in cases of dehydration/sickness.

Anyway, everything I just said is all still in the discissionary phase anyway, but I must say the plan seems pretty genius (only if it means starting season sooner).

Looks like it could work but it won't be fun for the players. No fans and scorching heat.
                                        But it is a job!

Latest plan would be for teams to return to spring training facilities, so games would be split between Arizona and Florida. Plan is definitely liquid, but fact that they are formulating any plan does sound encouraging.

I thought they already had it? Regardless, Wimbledon was one of the few that actually had some insurance beforehand and thus will not lose much financially.

Unfortunately the betting points are moving, i.e., NBA and NHL went from mid-June to TBA
