Illinois Suspends In-Person Registration for Online Sports Betting Accounts

In the original sports betting law passed last year, Illinois required people who wanted an online sports betting account must sign up in person for the first 18 months the law passed to give the land based books a head start over the online only books like Draft Kings or FanDuel. However, due to the pandemic Gov. Pritzker is letting people register online for an online sports book account once the app goes live. I guarantee sports book operators are now gonna rush to get their apps live.

No idea if you still have to still be within the state. Would probably have to ask the book. None of the apps are live yet, but the order is saying once they do, you don't have to physically go to the casino/book to sign up to use the app. 670 is saying likely next week you'll see at least one.

IIRC the law allows a race track that has a sports betting license to let their OTB sites operate a book there also. Hawthorne, Arlington, and Fairmount's applications are currently in the pipeline.

I have a handful of Ncaa and mlb futures picks and one ncaa game that was canceled at half time on the last day of sports to go redeem in person at some point this fall.

They should include a way to scan tickets on the app, like banks allow you to deposit checks via an app.
