#38Unlike so many other industries/businesses, footwear and apparel are non perishable, so Nike can and will make up for a large % of lost revenue as the economy bounces back.
On a side note, anyone paying retail sticker price for any sneaker/sportswear crap is a buffoon. I never owned a piece of Under Armour.
Then one day I was low on golf balls and stopped @ a Dick`s sporting goods. Shitty selection, but picked out a dozen. On my way to pay, saw a large discount rack with Under Armour tops. $5.00 for sticker price $35 and up. Bought like 10 of them. Nice shirts for the price of a Hanes t-shirt. $1-2-300 for a sneaker. Simply no.Comment -
#39Nike can afford the loss and could care less about their employees.Comment -
#40Yup.. Company only advertises to the black community.. It's backfiring now.. Many white people turned off to Nike now.Comment -
-
#42Also a side effect when you spend more on marketing than actual quality of the shoe. Paying athletes to endorse when they're not playing right now. All advertising dollars being wasted.Comment -
#43Nobody wants or accepts a huge lossComment -

#45The truth is that the shoes are trash and have been for a long time.
I hate to disappoint the crew here, but this loss really has nothing to do with white consumers taking a stand against Nike politics. All retail is in the toilet, but keep on fighting the good fight.Comment -

#47i dont understand why nfl commissioner godel. drew bres etc expressing the own opinion and then apologize for it .kneeling during the national anthem is a disgrace in my opinion.you want protest do it in a different venue not during the national anthem.do it in the middle of a game ..why you choose the national anthem is beyond me.just my 2 cent worthComment -
#48I hope nobody here bought in on Nike stock.Comment -

Thanks. I am a ragtop guy now, but believe this era Riv stands above, alone and superior to any personal luxury car of the era.
A neighbor had one when I was in grade school. His second car was an Eldorado. Dude had some class.
Of course, him and his cars were long gone before I had a chance to acquire.Comment -

The email, which Complex saw, did not specify how many employees and which departments would be affected but mentioned that workers at Nike's retail stores, distribution centers, and manufacturing facilities were not expected to be among those laid off.
If workers at retail outlets are not being laid off that would suggest this isn't the transition you speak of.Comment -

You're not making sense with your reply though. How can anything be other than expected until it happens?Comment -

#60Congratulations, my 82.5 to 1 bet didn't hit so you must be right. My OKC at +785 is looking good though. I have another that is also looking good but don't want to jinx it.
