I’m beginning to doubt it. I just read that students at Georgia Tech will not have to wear masks and now the 750 teacher’s there are threatening to not work if students don’t wear masks. With shit like that happening college sports are looking less likely

If you were a professor in your 50's, 60's would you go to teach at a classroom where the students are not wearing masks and they were out partying the night before? I wouldn't. There needs to be a national policy on masks for sports to be played. If it is left to each state it will not work.

Time is running out for that and the national policy will never happen. I've never seen a government scared of its own people. Begging and pleading for its people to wear masks is the epitome of powerlessness.

Georgia Tech is supposed to be the school with the smart engineers. Georgia Tech stopped playing big boy football a long time ago. They should just combine with Georgia and let football and basketball go.

I don’t follow GT but my neighbor got his mechanical engineering degree there 20 years ago and he still thinks GT is a worthy team, obviously biased though
I'm on a Zoom call in a few minutes with some NCAA officials. I'll try to drop some hints. My last call was around Memorial Day and a lot were tossing around football from Christmas-April Fools Day as one option. That's how desperate they want to play.
The Ivy League will decide July 8 whether its schools will try to play fall sports. The decision could serve as a bellweather for the rest of NCAA.
That announcement will be a no go.
Once that happens dominoes fall up instead of down obviously. Best scenario seen is winter/spring football. Indoor NCAA sports like basketball and hockey doomed.
Even if a vaccine comes by fall, the EARLIEST things would be doable would early 2021.
My take out of the meeting is the "favorite" for college sports in 20/21 wiped out Still think some major conferences could try to go renegade. But a lot of schools can't fly charter and don't want to go commercial or can't or won't bus.
Best I can relay at this point. We do it again in August.
I don't trust players to live in a bubble. The only sports with players smart enough to follow the rules are nhl and golf. Every other the players will break the rules.

You bring up a good point that I didn't mention that was by a few NCAA officials. These are 18-23 year old kids. You can't keep them roped up in a players only dorm/housing. They will bring girls, party etc.

Everyone who went to college knows this will not work. These guys don't get paid. So you can't put rules and fine them money when they break them. And they will break the rules since they are asymptomatic and don't care.

With the money the schools make, they could afford it, issue it would cast a bad light on them not paying students. . . Heck, Alabama, Clemson, Duke e.t.c prolly could afford a plane / or own, for their teams
