Starting Monday, August 3, 2009, we will start an August Baseball Pick-3 Contest, which will run until Monday, August 31. All prizes will be in the form of an account at 5 Dimes, and all prizes require a 4 time roll-over before withdrawals can be made. The prize distribution is as follows:
First Place: $150
Second Place: $50
Third Place: $25
Last Place Boobie Prize: $25
*IMPORTANT*
All players must have an account at 5 Dimes in order to be prize eligible for this contest. SIGN UP Here.
Players must PM their 5 Dimes account ID to SBRforum Staff NO LATER THAN 8:00 PM ET on Friday, August 14. From August 3 through August 14, all new entrants must submit their accounts no later than 6:45 PM ET that day in order to be eligible to play that day. Those that send in account numbers after 6:45 PM ET cannot play until the following day. On days where there are games that start before 7:05 ET, you have until 20 minutes before the start of YOUR earliest game to submit account number, but still no later then 6:45 ET.
1. Check in the BASEBALL HANDICAPPING FORUM each day for the daily thread to be posted by LT Profits. Lines will be posted by 1:00 p.m. (ET) each day. Plays may be posted before that, but the official posted lines will be used for grading.
2. You may select a maximum of three plays per day. There are no restrictions in regards to allowable prices for favorites and underdogs, but ONLY full-game Siides and Totals are allowed. Sorry, no first five inning, second half or Run Lines allowed.
3. All plays will be RISKING one unit for underdogs or TO WIN one unit for favorites, and while you may make multiple posts until you have up to three selections in a day, you may NOT change ANY play once posted.
4. To be eligible for the prizes, you must make a minimum of 45 plays over the duration of the contest. Also, the maximum number of allowable plays for this contest is 75. If you are at, say, 74 plays and then submit multiple plays in one post the next day, only the top play listed will count (or only the top two if you are at 73, etc.).
5, Standings will be based on total units won/lost. If there is a tie at the end of the contest for either of the top three positions or for last place, the contest will be extended into September in the form of a one-play-per-day sudden death tiebreaker.
5a. To break ties for any of the top three spots, all tied players must make ONE selection each day that there is at least one scheduled game. If at least one player wins, all players that win advance to the next day. If no one wins, all players that made a selection advance to the next day. When breaking a tie for a top three spot, a PUSH IS A LOSS!
5b. To break ties for last place, all tied players must make ONE selection each day that there is at least one scheduled game. If at least one player loses, all players that lost advance to the next day. If no one loses, all players that made a selection advance to the next day. When breaking a tie for last place, a PUSH IS A WIN!
Regardless of if a tie is for a top three spot or for last place, any player that passes does NOT advance to the next day. Also, if a selection is postponed, the next day will be considered an extension of the previous day and only players that had the postponed game will make a selection.
6. Entries that are past-post will be NO ACTION. Any edited post will count as AN 0-3 DAY, regardless of how many plays were originally in the post! If you make a mistake or wish to enter a corrected line, do so in a separate post. This holds true even if the first game on the schedule did not go off yet. It does NOT hold true for posts that are not contest selections, i.e. standings, commentary posts, LT's notes to posters or congratulatory posts. Anyone who edits their post twice during the course of the contest shall be ELIMINATED, and will not be prize eligible!
*-EXCEPTION: If someone edits a post on the last day of the competition in an attempt to get an automatic loss in order to win the Last Place prize, then the original post will stand.
7. And here’s the fine print:
• Must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
• One entry per home and computer.
• Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits
• Maximum three picks per day, minimum 45 plays required to be eligible for month-end prize.
