Same man, I have been an alcoholic and drug user for many years, and I've hit many lows, been on this site for many of those years. Best thing I can say is that you need to find a way to increase endorphines or whatever the term is in your brain without their usage, or with more minimal usage. So staying busy, spending time with friends and family, working out, doing activities, etc. Good luck.

Powerful post from op. i drink 8 16oz beers daily and don't feel like my fun self without them. like goat said, have to find your happy without it eventually. as your tolerance builds it becomes such a norm. at least you aren't fighting denial. gl to you.

Beer is like water to me. I don't know how anyone can be considered an alcoholic drinking just beers.

Hard liquor or bust for this guy. Less calories also. Catch a good quick buzz and you don't have to piss all day and night like when drinking beers.

It's amazing how many things out there that try and destroy us. So many addictions, so many vices, and most go on with everyday life without thinking twice about whatever it is that wants to harm us. What strikes me here is how many came in to offer help, encouragement and hope to a person none of us have met. I believe that is how God works. He works through us, whether we realize it or not, whether we believe in Him or not, He still loves and embraces us. He invites all of us, and many will reject Him, unfortunately.

I never thought I would see the day, I was not drinking. If I wasn't working i WAS WORKING ON FINDING THE BOTTOM OF A BOTTLE!! Like so many others I started heavy drinking in my teens, and never let up, until 4 years ago on May the 25th, I was 49 at the time!!
Musher I know you have heard it 10000 times but it really is one day at a time!! Staying busy and keeping your mind off drinking! Its how I able to not drink!

Sometimes.. I can drink 3 days in a row.... and sometime... I barely drink 3 times in a year. I just do what I feel is right. Some have self control... and some don't.

I understand the last few years of my drinking career, I would keep moonshine, when available in my freezer(live in a place where there is usually plenty) or pure grain alcohol when I didn't have any! Would drink beer or less proof only when out with friends!
